Prime Minister Youth Talent Hunt Table Tennis (Men’s) team event Peshawar while Mardan team won the women’s event.
PESHAWAR: Peshawar region secured victory in the team event of the Prime Minister Youth Talent Hunt Sports League table tennis, held in Peshawar, while the Mardan region claimed the title in the final match of the women’s team event.
The tournament, organized by Islamia College Peshawar University, reached its climax at Qayyum Stadium yesterday. In the men’s team event finals, the Peshawar team, comprised of Usman Ahmed, Obaidullah, and Haroon, clinched the honor by defeating the Mardan region players Mudassar,
Jawad, and Hamza with a score of 3-1. Similarly, in the women’s team event final, Mardan’s players, including Hiba Iqbal, Houria, and Hayanur, triumphed over Peshawar’s Alishba, Zainab, and Safira.
Additionally, league-style matches were held in the men’s and women’s singles categories, leading to the selection of two teams from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Exceptional performances were displayed by prominent players from Peshawar, Swat, and Mardan, resulting in the selection of five players for each team.
One Khyber Pakhtunkhwa team will be represented by Areeb, Shayan, Mudassar, Hamza, and Haroon, while the other team will feature Obaid, Owais, Usman, Jawad, and Kashif. The women’s team comprises Safira, Alishba, and Aina from Peshawar, along with Haya Noor and Houria from Mardan, while the other team includes Hiba Iqbal from Mardan among four others.
These matches were conducted under the supervision of Provincial Table Tennis Association President Ahmed Nawaz Alizai, Senior Vice President Kifayatullah, Shahzad Islam Yousafzai, and representatives from the Pakistan Table Tennis Federation, Nadeem, and Masood Ahmed.
