Peshawar clinches Judo title as Hazara grab Taekwondo trophy
PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa U23 Games, Peshawar clinched Judo title as Hazara Region bagged Women Taekwondo trophy in the ongoing U23 Games being played at different venues here.
Peshawar claimed first place, Hazara second and Bannu Region got third place respectively in women’s judo competitions played here at Abdul Wali Khan Sports Charsadda.
Peshawar region players showed their best performance and won the general trophy with a total medal tally including 3 gold, 2 silver and 4 brown medals, while Hazara also got three gold, two silver and two brown medals.
Both Peshawar and Hazara got three gold medals each and two silver medals each as well and on the decision of bronze medal Peshawar declared as winner of the general overall trophy. Peshawar took four bronze medals against two of the Hazara.
In the same way, the team of Bannu region got the third position with 3 gold, 1 silver and 3 browns medals. Likewise, in the taekwondo competitions played at BISE Peshawar Sports Complex, Hazara region was the first with 8 gold medals, Peshawar got two gold and a silver medal. Dera Ismail Khan got the third position.
On this occasion, the special guest was Additional Director General and Chairperson of the Games Miss Rashida Ghaznavi along with District Sports Officer Charssada Mashal Malik,
Miss Gul Rukh, DSO Peshawar, Shahnaz, DSO Chitral Upper, Ex-Tahsinullah, Deputy Director Operation Nazia Zaki, Masood Ahmed, Ahmed Zaman, RSO Peshawar Kashif Farhan and other important personalities were present. The Athletic Meet was held at BISE Sports Complex ground.
According to the results, Rashida Khan, hailing from Peshawar and represented Peshawar was declared best athlete by claiming three gold medal 100m, 200m, 400m and silver medal in long jump while Hazara Alishba also claimed three gold medal in long jump, javelin throw, discus throw and got second best position.
Rasheeda of Peshawar won gold medal in 100m, Aqra of Mardan region won the silver medal, while Fiza of Hazara won the brown medal. Peshawar’s Rashida won the silver medal while Mardan’s Aqra won the third position with bronze medal.
In the 800m race, Hazara’s Nimra won the gold, Peshawar’s Laiba won the silver medal while Salma won the browns medal. In the Discus throw Alishba won gold medal, Manahil of Malakand got silver medal and Uzma of Peshawar won bronze medal. In the 4X100 rally, Peshawar won the gold, Hazara won the silver, while Kohat won the browns medal.
