Powerlifting Competitions to Ignite Peshawar on August 14
PESHAWAR: The vibrant city of Peshawar is set to host a thrilling powerlifting competition on August 14, organized by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Weightlifting Association.

Muhammad Shiraz, Secretary of the Provincial Weightlifting Association, announced that the competition will follow the tradition of holding these events on August 14 each year. “Inshallah, we are looking forward to an exciting competition where athletes from various categories will demonstrate their prowess and dedication,” Shiraz told Media.
The event has garnered significant attention from local athletes, including Abid Sohail, who is making his debut in powerlifting this year. Sohail, a former cricket, archery, and football player, has shifted his focus to powerlifting after a hiatus due to business commitments.
“I’ve been training rigorously for the past several months under the expert guidance of Coach Muhammad Shiraz,” Sohail shared. “My previous experience in sports has fueled my passion for powerlifting, and I am eager to showcase my skills on August 14.”
