Pakistan’s senior journalist has demanded that Pindi Cricket Stadium be named after Nawaz Sharif.

The letter is written. In which the Pindi Cricket Ground has been demanded to be named after the most popular sports loving politician of Pakistan Muhammad Nawaz Sharif.
Nawaz Sharif personally directed the then administration to build an international level cricket ground in Rawalpindi in 1991-92. He then inaugurated the ground on 19 January 1992.
The first international match between Pakistan and Sri Lanka was played at the stadium on 19 January 1992. The stadium hosted its first Test match in 1993, when Zimbabwe toured Pakistan.
Pakistan is the defending champion of Champions Trophy having won the edition in 2017 and Pakistan is going to host it from 19 February to 9 March 2025.
In 2016, the ICC canceled the Champions Trophy but announced in November 2021 that the tournament would take place in 2025. The Champions Trophy is an international cricket tournament for the top eight teams.
It may be recalled that the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium was an important venue in the 1995-96 Cricket World Cup.
The first international match at the stadium was played on 19 January 1992. The stadium hosted its first Test match in 1993, when Zimbabwe toured Pakistan.
Test cricket returned to Pakistan from the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium during the 2019 Test series against Sri Lanka when the first Test match was played in Rawalpindi from 11 to 15 December 2019. It was the first Test played at the venue in 15 years and the first international match in 13 years.
Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium was established in 1992
Before the construction of the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, the Rawalpindi Club Cricket Ground was used as a venue for international matches, including a Test match against New Zealand in March 1965.
In November 2023 Cricket World Cup, Pakistan Cricket Board officials announced to host the ICC Champions Trophy on 16 November 2021, the first global tournament since the 1996 Cricket World Cup.
