Inquiry Launched into Incident at Peshawar Sports Complex
Peshawar, 6th September 2024 – The Directorate General of Sports, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has initiated an official inquiry following a reported incident at the Peshawar Sports Complex on 4th September 2024.
The incident involved Mr. Attique, a chowkidar (security guard), who was allegedly injured by athletes believed to have been favoring Mr. Zafran, the Athletics Coach at the Directorate General of Sports.
Mrs. Rashida Ghaznavi, Additional Director General (BPS-20), has been appointed as the Inquiry Officer to investigate the circumstances surrounding the altercation.
According to an official office order, Mrs. Ghaznavi is expected to complete the investigation and submit her findings within three working days.
The incident has sparked concerns about internal discipline within the sports complex and has raised questions about the relationship between athletes and management. While no official statement has been made by Mr. Zafran or the athletes involved, the inquiry’s outcome will likely determine the next steps for any disciplinary action.
The Peshawar Sports Complex has long been a hub for athletic training and sports development in the province. Incidents like these have the potential to impact the reputation of the institution, which is known for promoting sportsmanship and professionalism.
The sports community and public await the findings of the inquiry to shed light on the issue and ensure such incidents do not affect the morale of those involved in the development of sports in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
