UNDP Cycles Vanish in FATA: Cycling Coach Holds the Key
Peshawar , In a shocking revelation, twelve bicycles donated by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) to the Sports Directorate of FATA in 2016 have been missing for eight years.
The Directorate, tasked with safeguarding these valuable assets, has failed to account for their whereabouts.
According to an RTI response, the bicycles are allegedly in the possession of a cycling coach. However, the coach’s primary responsibility is to train athletes, not to store government property.
The absence of any clear explanation or documentation regarding the bicycles’ transfer to the coach raises serious concerns about accountability and transparency within the government.
The disappearance of these bicycles is a stark reminder of the challenges faced by government institutions in Pakistan.
It highlights the need for stricter oversight mechanisms and greater transparency in the use of public funds. As investigations continue, it remains to be seen whether justice will prevail and the missing bicycles will be recovered.
