HEC Cricket Team Gears Up for President’s Cup, Meets Chairman HEC

A 25-member delegation of HEC Cricket Team, comprising 20 shortlisted players and five officials, met Chairman HEC Dr Mukhtar Ahmed ahead of their participation in the prestigious President’s Cup Grade-I Cricket Tournament.
The team has been selected from over 200 aspiring cricketers who participated in trials held at COMSATS University Islamabad on September 24-25, 2024. They attended a specialized training camp at the same university.
Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed expressed his best wishes to the team and emphasized the importance of promoting sports excellence among university students.
He also appreciated the selection of young players on merit and reiterated that HEC is committed to nurturing and developing young talent and empowering youth to excel in both academics and sports.
Last year’s outstanding performance, where HEC’s team finished as runner-up, has set high expectations for this year’s tournament. Chairman HEC encouraged the team to showcase their skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship, making HEC and Pakistan proud.
The President’s Cup Grade-I Cricket Tournament, organized by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), provides a unique platform for university students to demonstrate their talent at a national level.
HEC’s partnership with the University of Peshawar and COMSATS University Islamabad demonstrates its dedication to fostering collaboration and enhancing human resource capacity in higher education institutions.
Mr. Shabbir Ahmed, former international cricketer and a reputed coach and Mr. Sabih Ahmad, a Level-III coach, together brings collective experience to upskilling the HEC team.
Mr. Javed Ali Memon, In-charge Sports & Co-curricular Activities Division, HEC and Muhammad Asif, Assistant Director, Sports & Co-curricular Activities Division, HEC also attended the meeting, showcasing HEC’s unified support and guidance for the team.
