Pakistan Business Group Hosts Farewell Dinner for Pakistan Table Tennis Team Ahead of Asian Championship
Karachi, 6th October 2024 – In a grand event held at Rehman Villa, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Karachi, the Pakistan Business Group (PBG) hosted a farewell dinner to honor the Pakistan Table Tennis team, who are set to represent the country at the Asian Table Tennis Championship 2024 in Kazakhstan. The dinner aimed to boost the morale of the athletes before their departure.
The event featured Mr. Jalaluddin Mahar, Secretary Sports & Youth Affairs, Government of Sindh, as the Chief Guest, while Mr. Ejaz Ali, General Secretary of the Pakistan Table Tennis Federation, attended as the Guest of Honour. Both dignitaries expressed their pride in the team’s efforts and wished them success for the upcoming competition.
Among the prominent figures present were Pakistan’s table tennis legends, Mr. Arif Khan, former SAF Games Gold Medalist and Pride of Performance recipient, and Mr. Irfan Ullah Khan, celebrated for their invaluable contributions to the sport. Both legends encouraged the players and shared their experiences from international competitions, further motivating the team to perform at their best.
The team members, including Hoor Fawad, Pakistan’s youngest national table tennis champion, and Shah Khan, the men’s national champion, were in high spirits. They expressed their gratitude for the support and confidence shown by the business and sports communities.
Mr. Faraz ur Rehman, Patron of PBG, Mr. Fawad Sheikh, President of PBG, and Mr. Fawad ur Rehman, Chairman of the Sports Committee, PBGO, also addressed the audience, acknowledging the team’s dedication. They stressed the importance of fostering young talent through investments in sports infrastructure and training programs.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Jalaluddin Mahar assured that the Sindh government remains committed to supporting sports initiatives. “These athletes are ambassadors of Pakistan, and we are confident that they will bring pride to the nation,” he remarked.
The evening ended with a renewed sense of optimism and national pride, with the players receiving a warm send-off as they prepared to compete on an international platform. The Pakistan Table Tennis team departs for Kazakhstan with the hopes and best wishes of the nation behind them.
