ISLAMABAD ; October 09, 2024 – By Nawaz Gohar
The much-anticipated FIBA Statistician Workshop will be commencing from today (Thursday) in Islamabad, marking a significant step forward in the development of basketball in Pakistan.
A total of 11 candidates from across the country are participating in the workshop, having successfully completed FIBA training and passed the necessary exams to qualify for this advanced program.
This workshop is being conducted under the supervision of an instructor appointed by FIBA ASIA from Bahrain. The program aims to train and certify Pakistan’s first-ever FIBA-licensed statisticians, who will be responsible for covering both national and international basketball events.
This development is a historic milestone for the sport in Pakistan, enhancing the technical expertise available for high-level competitions.
The Pakistan Basketball Federation (PBBF) has been working tirelessly to improve the various dimensions of the game in the country.
This workshop is the latest in a series of initiatives, including the successful FIBA Referee Workshop and the Olympic Solidarity Level 1 Coaching Course, both held in the last year. These efforts underline PBBF’s commitment to achieving international standards in coaching, officiating, and game management.
By introducing FIBA-licensed statisticians for the first time in Pakistan, the federation aims to ensure that the sport continues to grow and is managed with the same professionalism and expertise seen in global basketball competitions.
This initiative is expected to play a vital role in raising the profile of basketball in Pakistan and preparing the country for greater participation in international basketball events.
