The 7th National Men’s Softball Championship will be played in Karachi from October 23 to 25. The event will be hosted by the Sindh Softball Association, while the 15th National Women’s Softball Championship will also be held this year by the Softball Federation in Karachi.
This decision was taken in the meeting of the Executive Committee of Softball Federation of Pakistan held in Karachi. In the meeting held under the leadership of Federation President Asif Azeem,
attended by Senior Vice President Professor Dr. Farhan Essa, Chairperson Yasmin Haider, Vice Presidents Farah Saeed, Tehmina Asif, Secretary General Naseem Khan,
Finance Secretary Muhammad Zeeshan Merchant, Associate Secretary Murad Hussain and others, it was approved to give playing rights to Dr. Essa Laboratories and Combaxx Sports as new departments and to hold the post of a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) in the Federation.
Federation’s President Asif Azeem said that next year the first Inter-Departmental Softball league will be played in Lahore, the inter-provincial junior men’s championship will be hosted by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Softball Association, while the bilateral series between the men’s teams of Sindh and Balochistan will be played in Quetta.
On the suggestion of Farhan Essa, it was approved to organize interschool softball championships regularly every year to further promote the game of softball from the grass root level.
Chairperson Yasmin Haider said that to improve the performance of the national team in international events, Steps should be taken to invite foreign coaches to Pakistan so that they can nurture new talent with their experience.
