KARACHI (Sports Link) Al Baraka Bank Jahangir Khan Squash Championship 2024 came to an exciting close yesterday after a week of high-energy competition, featuring over 100 players across multiple categories.

The tournament was marked by exceptional performances, with participants expressing their deep appreciation to squash legend Jahangir Khan for his continued support and to Al Baraka Bank for sponsoring the event.

The grand closing ceremony saw Jahangir Khan, the chief guest, accompanied by Rahila Aamir Basrai, Executive Vice President & Head of Marketing Communications at Al Baraka Bank, and Commodore Muddasar Khurshid, Patron of Pakistan Navy Squash. Together, they awarded the trophies to the winners and runners-up in various categories.

Shamlan Gul of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa won the title of Al Baraka Bank Jahangir Khan Squash Championship by defeating Sakhi ullah of Punjab by three to two games after an interesting and thrilling match.

According to Naveed Alam, Technical Director of the tournament, the final of Under Nineteen at Pakistan Navy Rosh Khan Jahangir Khan Squash Complex was very interesting. After several ups and downs, Shamlan Gul won. Shamlan’s winning score was four eleven, eleven seven, eleven five, seven eleven and eleven seven.

In the final of the under-seventeen category, Obaid ullah defeated Adnan Zaman by three games to one. In the under-thirteen boys final, Tahoor Khan beat Sadis Ahmed three games to two. In the Under-11 category final, national champion Harmas Ali Raja of Pakistan Army won against Anas Khan.

Raheela Amir distributed the prizes. Raheela Amir said that her organization will continue to sponsor sports along with professional duties.

Former World Champion Jahangir Khan Patron Pakistan Navy Squash Commodore Mudassar Khursheed and others were also present on this occasion and the players who performed outstandingly were given trophies along with cash prizes.
