Pakistan Sports Board warns Pakistan Football Federation Normalization Committee for exceeding its mandate

The Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) has issued a stern warning to the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) for its lack of normalization in a concrete move, raising questions regarding its recent actions as outside the committee’s mandate.
are This unusual reaction comes after the Normalization Committee announced an extraordinary session of Congress on November 19, 2024.
PSB made it clear that such activities pose risks to destabilize football governance in Pakistan.
The letter said that the committee under the leadership of Chairman of the Normalization Committee Haroon Malik was primarily tasked with handling day-to-day affairs, club registration and conducting transparent elections.
However, the committee’s actions now show that it is moving towards assuming legislative powers, which could effectively transform it into a policy-making body.
The letter to Chairman PPF Haroon Malik Kolkhe said that the move to amend the constitution by convening a Congress meeting of the Normalization Committee, without a recognized PFF president and without informing the elected representatives of the provincial associations is not only illegal. It is legal, but it does not have any legal status
The PSB has pointed out that Haroon Malik identifies himself as the President of the Pakistan Football Federation in official correspondence, even though he has not been authorized to do so by FIFA.
Fuels speculation that Haroon Malik is paving the way for a future post at the PFF, which is seen as a conflict of interest.
At the end of the letter, the PSB warned the normalization committee to refrain from overstepping its mandate or the matter would be referred to FIFA.
