Announcement of Champions Trophy 2025 schedule delayed

Islamabad:  The announcement of the Champions Trophy 2025 schedule has been delayed. Pakistan will participate in this Champions Trophy as the defending champions, the last time the Champions Trophy was held in 2017 which was won by Pakistan under the leadership of Sarfraz Ahmed.

According to the agreement, the ICC has to announce the schedule in any case 90 days before the event.
The ICC had planned to announce the schedule of the trophy on the occasion of ‘100 days to go’ before the event, but the announcement could not be made due to the recent India-Pakistan deadlock.

Announcement of schedule is delayed after refusal to come Commercial partners need at least this much time before the event, commercial partner has to do their marketing according to the schedule, for ICC Pakistan and India Without it, it is not possible to hold the tournament and it will cause serious financial loss to the ICC.

If the event is moved from the host country to another country, Pakistan will exercise the right to legal action.
It should be noted that yesterday, the Pakistan Cricket Board wrote a letter to the ICC on the government’s instructions regarding the issue, in which the Pakistani government’s strict stance regarding the refusal of the Indian Cricket Board (BCCI) to play the Champions Trophy in Pakistan.

After the ICC ODI World Cup 1996 and the 2008 Asia Cup, Pakistan will host the Champions Trophy for the first time in a while, with all the matches to be played in the three major cities of Pakistan, Karachi, Lahore and Rawalpindi, from February 19 to March 19 next year.

India have not played a match in Pakistan since the 2008 Asia Cup, while no bilateral series has been played between the two countries since Pakistan toured India in 2012-13.

Last year also, Pakistan got to host the Asia Cup, but India refused to come to Pakistan, after which all the matches of India were scheduled in Sri Lanka under the hybrid model, where India won easily in the final played in Colombo won the title by defeating Sri Lanka.
