Clarification Regarding the So-Called Elections of Karachi Basketball Association.
It has come to my (Saleem Qureshi) notice that in the so-called elections of the Karachi Basketball Association (KBBA), I have been declared as Chairman.
I want to categorically state that this has been done without my knowledge, consent, or involvement. I have no association with these illegal elections or the illegitimate body claiming to represent KBBA.
How can it be possible for an individual who was not even present at their meeting to be elected for a position in the association? This is not only illogical but also highlights the farcical nature of this entire process.
This situation appears to be yet another drama orchestrated by the suspended former President of KBBA, Ghulam Muhammad Khan. It must be noted that he was suspended by the Pakistan Basketball Federation (PBBF) in their General Council Meeting due to serious disciplinary and administrative irregularities.
Following his suspension, a Management and Scrutiny Committee headed by Ashfaq Ahmed was appointed to oversee KBBA’s affairs and to scrutinize Karachi basketball clubs before holding fair, impartial and transparent elections.
Furthermore, it is baffling how the former body could hold elections without the presence of key elected officials. A similar note has been issued by the former Acting President of KBBA, Muhammad Yaqoob,
who has also been falsely named as the Senior Vice President in this illegitimate setup. His name, too, was used without his consent.
It is illegal to use anyone’s name without their permission, and such actions carry serious legal ramifications.
I want to make it unequivocally clear that I have no connection or association with this bogus body or its illegal elections.
