Faysal Bank 69th National Track Cycling Championship to Begin Today in Lahore
The Faysal Bank 69th National Track Cycling Championship is set to commence , December 27, 2024, at the Cycling Velodrome in Lahore. The three-day championship will bring together cyclists from ten different teams, representing the pinnacle of talent in the nation.
During a press conference held earlier in Lahore, the President of the Pakistan Cycling Federation (PCF), Syed Azhar Ali Shah, announced that the championship will feature competitions in the men’s, women’s, and junior categories. Among the teams participating are Sui Southern Gas, Gilgit-Baltistan, Wah Ordnance Factory, and representatives from all four provinces, promising a thrilling showcase of athleticism and competitive spirit.
Notably, the teams from Army and WAPDA have not been permitted to participate in this year’s championship due to the ongoing issue of parallel cycling federations led by individuals banned by PCF. Mr. Shah highlighted the federation’s unwavering commitment to upholding the integrity and unity of Pakistan’s cycling community, emphasizing that only PCF-affiliated units are eligible to compete.
The championship holds immense significance, not just as a sporting event but also as a reflection of PCF’s resilience and dedication to promoting cycling across Pakistan. Approximately 60 male and female cyclists will participate in this national-level event, representing the best talent from PCF-affiliated units.
The event will culminate with a grand closing ceremony on December 29, 2024, where Federal Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination, Rana Sanaullah, will grace the occasion as the special guest.
The Pakistan Cycling Federation extends its heartfelt gratitude to Faysal Bank for its generous sponsorship and invites cycling enthusiasts and the general public to attend and support this celebration of national cycling talent.
