Historic Moment for Wheelchair Cricket: Pakistan to Host First-Ever T20 World Cup in 2025
KARACHI – A historic milestone for wheelchair cricket, as the International Council of Wheelchair Cricket (ICWC) has officially announced the hosting of the inaugural Wheelchair Cricket T20 World Cup 2025 in Pakistan.
This landmark event will take place in May 2025, with 8 teams (Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, United Arab Emirates, Afghanistan, Australia, and Kenya) competing for the coveted world title.
The Pakistan Wheelchair Cricket Council (PWCC) will inaugurate the World Cup with a grand musical performance followed by a vibrant opening ceremony. Speaking on the occasion, Rukhsana Rajput, President of the Pakistan Wheelchair Cricket Council and Chairperson of the World Cup Organizing Committee,
expressed her excitement, stating, “I am thrilled to announce that the first-ever Wheelchair Cricket World Cup will be hosted in Pakistan, with 8 teams participating.
I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to the ICWC members, whose invaluable contributions since 2014 have helped promote wheelchair cricket worldwide.”
She further emphasized that this historic event will serve as a significant milestone for Pakistan and will play a pivotal role in advancing the promotion of wheelchair cricket, not only in Pakistan but also across South Asia.
Rukhsana Rajput added, “With the blessings of Allah, and the support of the Pakistan Cricket Board, stakeholders, and supporters, we are committed to organizing a memorable and successful event.
