Pakistan Clinches Sixth Position at 44th Asian Road Cycling Championship in Thailand
Pakistan’s cyclists made history at the 44th Asian Road Cycling Championship 2025 in Thailand, delivering an outstanding performance that placed them sixth on the overall medal table.
The national team secured a record-breaking six medals, including two gold, two silver, and two bronze, marking Pakistan’s best-ever achievement in an Asian cycling event.
The standout performances came from Ali Ilyas Jawaid, who won gold in the Individual Time Trial (ITT) and silver in the Road Race (IRR); Rabia Garib, who claimed gold in the IRR and silver in the ITT; and Zainab, who secured two bronze medals in the ITT and IRR categories.
Pakistan’s cyclists not only dominated in individual races but also set new records at both the Asian and national levels, demonstrating the country’s rising status in international cycling.
The SSGC Sports Board played a crucial role in this historic achievement. Several medal-winning cyclists are products of SSGC’s extensive sports development programs, which have nurtured and supported talented athletes over the years.
The Bekistan Cycling Academy Karachi also played a vital role, as Zainab, a rising star in Pakistan cycling, trained at the academy, which has been instrumental in developing young cycling talent in the country.
The Pakistan Cycling Federation (PCF) lauded the efforts of both SSGC Sports Board and Bekistan Cycling Academy Karachi for their contributions in producing world-class athletes. Their support has not only elevated the sport in Pakistan but also placed the country on the international cycling map.
This achievement marks Pakistan’s best-ever performance in the history of Asian cycling championships and is a first-ever milestone for the country in road cycling at the continental level. With this success, Pakistan has demonstrated its potential to become a dominant force in Asian cycling.
The remarkable results from Thailand have ignited new hope for cycling’s future in Pakistan, with calls for greater investment and sponsorships to further elevate the sport on the international stage.
