PESHAWAR: In a significant move to promote modern sports in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Padel Sports Association has been officially established. Fawad Shehzada has been elected as the President, while Muhammad Bilal has taken charge as the Secretary General.
The selection process for other office-bearers will be completed soon to ensure the smooth operation of the association’s activities.
Newly elected President Fawad Shehzada and Secretary General Muhammad Bilal expressed their commitment to introducing and expanding padel in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, taking it from the grassroots level to the national and international stage.
They highlighted that while padel is a relatively new sport in the province, it has gained immense popularity worldwide, becoming one of the most widely played sports.
Padel is a fast-paced sport that blends elements of squash and tennis, yet possesses a unique style of its own. It has witnessed extraordinary growth across Europe and South America and is now steadily gaining traction in various cities across Pakistan.
The formation of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Padel Association is seen as a progressive step that will provide young players with the opportunity to train, compete, and excel in this emerging sport.
Fawad Shehzada and Muhammad Bilal emphasized that many talented young athletes in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have a keen interest in non-traditional sports, but due to a lack of proper platforms, they are unable to showcase their abilities.
The newly formed association aims to bridge this gap by offering a structured training and competition framework, helping players hone their skills and make a mark at national and international levels.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Padel Association has announced its plan to organize training camps and tournaments across various districts in the near future.
These events will feature coaching sessions and talent hunt programs, ensuring the sport’s accessibility to a broader audience. The association also intends to collaborate with educational institutions and sports departments to maximize youth participation.
Shehzada and Bilal further stated that the establishment of the padel association is a highly promising development for the province’s sports landscape. If promoted strategically, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa could soon produce national and international-level padel players.
With structured development programs, increased awareness, and the right training facilities, padel has the potential to become a mainstream sport in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, offering young athletes a new pathway to success on the global stage.
