India wins ICC Champions Trophy 2025 title

India won the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 title, India defeated New Zealand by 4 wickets to become the winner of the Champions Trophy for the third time.

In the final match of the ICC Champions Trophy at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, New Zealand gave India a target of 252 runs to win, which India achieved in 49 overs for the loss of 6 wickets.

In pursuit of the target of 252 runs set by New Zealand, the Indian team made a brilliant start and scored 105 runs in the first wicket partnership, vice-captain Shubman Gill was caught by Phillips on 31 runs,

the Indian team had not yet recovered from the loss of Shubman Gill’s wicket when Michael Bracewell got Virat Kohli lbw after just four balls.

Kohli returned to the pavilion after scoring just 1 run, which further increased the pressure on India. After this, Rachan Ravindra ended the brilliant innings of Indian captain Rohit Sharma.

Before that, who had scored 76 runs, the Indian team had won 15 consecutive ODI matches and captain Rohit Sharma had won 12 consecutive matches until the final of the ICC Champions Trophy,

and he has become equal to Brian Lara in this record. However, during the match, Rohit Sharma also made one of the worst world records, he could not even win the toss of the Champions Trophy final and thus he set a record of not winning the toss in 12 consecutive matches. In this list,

Rohit Sharma and Brian Lara are equal by losing 12 consecutive tosses, Brian Lara had made this worst record during 1998 to 1999 and now Rohit Sharma has also joined this list.

The second on the list is Netherlands captain Pieter Boren, who failed to win the toss in 11 consecutive matches between 2011 and 2013. After winning the toss, New Zealand elected to bat first and scored 251 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the allotted 50 overs.

The New Zealand openers gave the team a good start and took the score to 57 runs in 7.4 overs, after which India managed to take the wicket of opener Will Young, who was dismissed for 15 runs.

Shortly after, India got their second wicket for 69 runs in 10.1 overs, Rachan Ravindra was dismissed by Kuldeep Yadav for 37 runs.

New Zealand’s third wicket fell for 75 runs in 12.2 overs, Kane Williamson was dismissed by Kuldeep Yadav for 11 runs.

The Kiwis suffered their fourth loss in the form of Tom Latham, who was out lbw off Jadeja for 14 runs on a total of 108. Daryl Mitchell and Glenn Phillips took the score forward,

and Phillips was bowled off Varun Chakravarthy for 34 on a total of 165. Mitchell played an innings of 63 runs before being caught by Mohammed Shami. Michael Bracewell played a 40-ball 53 to take his team to 251.

Varun Chakravarthy and Kuldeep Yadav took two wickets each for India, while Mohammed Shami and Ravindra Jadeja took one wicket each. It should be noted that this was India’s fifth and New Zealand’s third Champions Trophy final.
