PESHAWAR: The selection trials for the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa athletics team for the 35th National Games 2025 will be held on April 6 and 7. The trials for male athletes will take place at Kohat Sports Complex, while female athletes will compete at the Peshawar Education Board Ground.
These trials present a golden opportunity for athletes from across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to showcase their talents and secure a spot on the national stage. A panel of experienced sports experts and coaches will oversee the trials to ensure a transparent and merit-based selection process.
According to former international athlete and Deputy Director of Sports Jaffar Shah, coach Zafran Afridi, and Hayatabad Sports Complex Administrator and former international athlete Abid Nazim, a strong and talented Khyber Pakhtunkhwa athletics team will be formed for the National Games, scheduled to be held in Karachi from May 1 to 9. They assured that the trials would be conducted fairly and transparently, selecting only the best-performing athletes for the provincial squad.
Jaffar Shah and Abid Nazim emphasized that their primary objective is to provide talented athletes from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with the best possible opportunities so they can perform exceptionally at the National Games and bring glory to the province.
Coach Zafran Afridi highlighted that these trials would not only serve as a gateway to the National Games but also play a crucial role in preparing young athletes for national and international competitions.
According to Abid Nazim, the trials are open to all male and female athletes from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Any aspiring athlete can participate, but they must bring two passport-size photographs and a photocopy of their CNIC or B-Form.
He further stated that participation in the National Games is a milestone in any athlete’s career, as it is Pakistan’s largest sporting event, featuring the best athletes from across the country. With high ambitions, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is determined to excel in various athletics events at the Games.
In the previous National Games, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa athletes delivered remarkable performances in multiple sports, and expectations are high for an even stronger and more balanced team this time.
