PSL 10: Islamabad United defeat Lahore Qalandars in first match

In the opening match of Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10, Islamabad United defeated Lahore Qalandars by 8 wickets thanks to Colin Munro’s unbeaten half-century.

Rawalpindi Stadium will host 11 matches including the opening match of PSL 10, after which Gaddafi Stadium will host 13 matches including the final on May 18. Karachi and Multan will host 5 matches each,

while an exhibition match will be held in Peshawar on April 8. A total of 34 matches will be played in the tournament, which will last for 37 days from April 11 to May 18, while 6 teams are participating in the event.

Earlier, a colorful opening ceremony of PSL 10 was held at Rawalpindi Stadium, in which the country’s famous singers performed their magic and a magnificent fireworks display was also displayed on the occasion.

Islamabad United won the toss and decided to field at Rawalpindi Stadium. Captain Shadab Khan’s decision proved correct and the Lahore Qalandars team could not score a big score and were dismissed for 139 runs in 19.2 overs.

Three-time defending champions Islamabad United won the toss and invited Lahore Qalandars to bat. Fakhar Zaman and Muhammad Naeem opened the innings for Lahore Qalandars.

Fakhar Zaman was caught out after scoring just one run on the fourth ball of the second over, he was caught by Azam Khan off the ball of Riley Meredith. In the eighth over,

Muhammad Naeem also walked after scoring 8 runs, he was caught by Azam Khan off the ball of Jason Holders, after which Lahore Qalandars’ wickets kept falling at regular intervals. Only Abdullah Shafiq scored a fifty for Lahore Qalandars, who played a charming innings of 66 runs off just 38 balls.

Three Qalandars players, Sam Billing, Jahandad Khan and David Wiese, were dismissed for ducks, while Daryl Mitchell scored 13, Sikandar Raza scored 23, Shaheen Shah Afridi scored 2, and Haris Rauf scored 10 runs, while Asif Afridi remained not out after scoring 2 runs.

For Islamabad United, Jason Holder bowled brilliantly and took four wickets, captain Shadab Khan took three wickets, while Naseem Shah, Riley Meredith and Imad Wasim dismissed one player each.
