Rashid Malik inaugurates DHA Lahore Punjab Juniors & Seniors Tennis Championship
LAHORE: Punjab Lawn Tennis Association (PLTA) Senior Executive Vice President Rashid Malik inaugurated the DHA Lahore Punjab Juniors & Seniors Tennis Championship 2025 on Thursday at the DHA Sports Complex Sector G Phase 5, DHA Lahore.
Besides chief guest Rashid Malik, who is also former Davis Cupper and renowned tennis coach, Brig (R) Mir Muhammad Siddique SI(M) grace the occasion as the guest of honour. Other notables present on the occasion were Lt Col (R) Muhammad Shahbaz (Tamgha-e-Imtiaz), Additional Director Sports DHA Lahore, former international hockey player Naseem Ahmad, Sikander Hayat, DHA tennis coach, and tennis players and enthusiasts.
Chief guest Mr. Rashid Malik, in the presence of Brig (R) Mir Muhammad Siddique and Lt Col Muhammad Shahbaz, smashes a shot to declare the prestigious tournament opened. He praised the visionary approach of DHA Lahore regarding promoting sports and providing the best facilities to the youth and its members.
“I hope with such international standard facilities and positive and constructive approach of the high-ups of DHA Lahore, the sports will further flourish here and help in producing the future stars for the country.”
Malik further lauded the DHA Lahore for sponsoring this tennis championship and hoped that they would continue to support this beautiful game. “It is just the beginning as we, under the banner of PLTA and DHA Lahore, are conducting Punjab level event in the first phase. We planned to organize first national level events in next phase and then international tennis events here, as these are the facilities which can host ATF and ITF level tennis events.”
Malik, who is also tournament organizer, further said that this tournament has attracted more than 100 entries across 17 different categories that include men’s singles & doubles women singles & doubles (only for all DHA Club members only), seniors doubles 50 plus, doubles 60 plus doubles and juniors open.
The junior open further categorized into boys 18&U singles, girls 18&U singles, boys 14&U singles, girls 14&U singles, boys 12&U singles, girls 12&U singles, boys/girls 10&U, boys/girls 8&U, boys/girls 6&U. All finals of the tournament will be played on May 12, 2025.
