Ashar/Hadi, Malik/Ghazanfar shine in DHA Lahore Punjab Tennis Championship
LAHORE: The DHA Lahore Punjab Juniors and Seniors Tennis Championship 2025 continued with a thrilling display of talent and sportsmanship across various age categories, as seasoned players and young aspirants battled it out for top honors.
In the Seniors 45+ Doubles final, the pair of Ashar and Hadi Hussain delivered a commanding performance to defeat the duo of Imran Tahir and Fayyaz with an emphatic 8-1 victory, showcasing their dominance and coordination on court.
The Seniors 60+ Doubles semifinals featured two competitive matchups. Top seed Rashid Malik, partnering with Brig Ghazanfar, secured a strong 8-4 win over Imran Tahir and Mir Haroon. In the other semifinal, Saleem Khan and Dr Mushtaq Haroon demonstrated excellent teamwork to overcome Maj Saeed and Sq Ldr Hasib Baig 8-3, setting the stage for an exciting final clash.
In the Boys Under-18 final, Asad Zaman lived up to expectations with a solid 6-2 win against Ohad-e-Mustafa, asserting his position as one of the brightest young talents in the tournament. In the Girls Under-18 category, Bismal Zia delivered a dominant performance to beat Romaisa Malik 6-1.
The Boys Under-14 final witnessed a close contest where Muhammad Ayan edged out Ohad-e-Mustafa 7-5 in a tightly fought encounter. However, in the Boys Under-12 final, Muhammad Muaz turned the tables by defeating Ayan 7-5, underlining the competitive spirit among the juniors.
In the Girls Under-12 final, Aiman Rehan overcame a tough challenge from Khadija Khalil to win 6-4, while in the U-10 mixed category final, Daniyal Abdullah displayed remarkable control and skill, sweeping past Mustafa Zia with a resounding 6-0 victory.
The tournament is set to conclude today (Tuesday) with the highly anticipated Men’s Singles final, the Seniors 60+ Doubles final, and the Girls Under-14 final. A prize distribution ceremony will be held following the conclusion of the matches to honor the winners and participants of the championship.
