IHC suspended PSB notification of holding Chess Federation SVP election

Islamabad ; Justice Inaam Ameen Minhas of Islamabad High Court suspended the notification of Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) for holding the election of senior vice president (SVP) seat of Pakistan Chess Federation (PCF) on July 7.Judge also sought a reply from PSB and others until July 16. Judge issued directions on the petition of nominated SVP Saleem Akhtar.

Petitioner submitted that according to the CFP rules, he was nominated for the seat of SVP. He submitted that Umar Khan was elected secretary of the PCF but later was suspended on corruption charges.

He submitted that Umar Khan had approached the PSB for holding an election on the SVP seat. submitted that the PSB had no authority to take any action on the complaint of a suspected secretary, but it took action and announced the election date for the seat of SVP.

He informed that international chess had already warned the PSB not to interfere in the affairs of PCF. He submitted that the international chess Federation had already warned the PSB to avoid engineering the election of SVP otherwise sanctions could be imposed.

Petitioner requested to restrain the PSB from interference the affairs of PCF. He also requested to declare the PSB decision of holding an election on SVP as illegal.
