Mohsin Naqvi ensures Sri Lanka continue Pakistan tour after security concerns
Islamabad: By Nawaz Gohar ; The Sri Lankan cricket team, which had expressed concerns and requested to return home midway through their Pakistan tour, has now been assured of full security by Interior Minister and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi.
According to sources, Mohsin Naqvi personally intervened in the matter, holding a crucial meeting with the Sri Lankan High Commissioner and the team manager to address the players’ security apprehensions.
During the meeting, Naqvi reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to providing complete security arrangements for the touring side and urged the visitors to continue their participation in the ongoing series.
Following the meeting, the situation was brought under control, and the Sri Lanka Cricket Board (SLC) instructed its players to complete the tour as scheduled. The SLC has also made it clear that any player abandoning the tour midway without approval would face a two-year suspension.
The assurance from Pakistan’s top authorities has restored confidence among the Sri Lankan contingent, ensuring that the remainder of the series proceeds smoothly and without disruption.
