In a shocking turn of events, Rana Nawaz, a talented female athlets who secured a gold medal in judo during the 2022 Higher Education Commission (HEC) sports event, finds herself at the center of controversy in the 2023 HEC Prime Minister Talent Hunt Program for football.
Despite her capabilities in various sports, Rana Nawaz claims she is being unfairly targeted and ignored by the selection committee.
Initially, Rana Nawaz was selected by the sports committee of the Prime Minister’s Talent Hunt Program as a football player. She actively participated in two matches at the Abdul Wali Khan Charsadda ground, showing her skills and commitment. However, to her surprise, the same committee later expressed concern and barred her from playing in the third match.
Adding to the frustration, Rana Nawaz’s efforts as a trainer and player in the camp and matches have not been recognized, as the organizers have failed to pay her ta da (daily allowance) and provide necessary sports kits, which is disheartening and unjust.
Upon questioning the selection committee about their decisions, they placed the blame on Rana Nawaz, stating she had not disclosed her work as a daily wages player elsewhere. This response raises questions about the transparency and fairness of the selection process.
During a visit to the ground, Kikxnow, a sports news outlet, discovered another female player who had not been given a trial but was being forcefully entered into the playing team by some members of the organizer’s inner circle, further highlighting the potential nepotism within the program.
In light of these concerning events, Rana Nawaz demands that the Prime Minister and HEC take immediate action to stop these violations and ensure a fair and unbiased selection process for all aspiring female football players.
