Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Inter-Division Global Taekwondo Championship Kicks Off with a Grand Ceremony

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Inter-Division Global Taekwondo Championship officially commenced at the Hayatabad Sports Complex, Peshawar, with a formal ribbon-cutting ceremony led by Assistant Commissioner of Hayatabad, Miss Hasina.

The opening ceremony was graced by a large number of athletes, sports officials, and notable figures, including Masood Afridi, the Secretary General of the Pakistan Global Taekwondo Federation and an international Taekwondo player.

Organized under the supervision of the Pakistan Global Taekwondo Federation, the event saw the participation of male and female athletes from divisions such as Peshawar, Mardan, Kohat, Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan, Hazara, and Malakand.

Addressing the ceremony, Miss Hasina emphasized the vital role sports play in shaping human life, noting that they not only promote physical fitness but also enhance mental agility. She stressed the importance of balancing educational activities with sports to maintain a well-rounded lifestyle for the youth.

Sports, according to her, foster positive behaviors, teamwork, leadership, and resilience. She added that encouraging the younger generation to engage in sports is crucial for building a strong and healthy society.

Miss Hasina also highlighted the significance of such events for the development of sports in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and expressed hope that the championship would further hone the skills of the athletes involved.

Masood Afridi, Secretary General of the Pakistan Global Taekwondo Federation, stated in his address that promoting Taekwondo, an internationally recognized sport, is a core mission of the federation.

He emphasized the immense talent present in Pakistan’s youth and noted that it is the federation’s responsibility to provide opportunities for these athletes to progress.

Afridi also remarked that the championship serves as a platform for players to showcase their skills while also offering an opportunity to elevate Pakistan’s name on the global stage.

He highlighted how Taekwondo, as a sport, not only enhances physical strength but also instills discipline and ethical values.

He reaffirmed the federation’s commitment to providing athletes with training that meets international standards, enabling them to excel on the world stage. Afridi concluded by commending the organizers and extending his best wishes to all participants.
