SSGC Triumphs at Al Baraka Bank 9th National Road Cycling Championship

Islamabad, – The Al Baraka Bank 9th National Road Cycling Championship concluded today at the Jinnah Sports Complex, Islamabad, with SSGC emerging as the dominant force, securing the top position with an impressive haul of 10 gold medals.

The championship, organized by the Pakistan Cycling Federation (PCF), saw fierce competition among the country’s best cyclists in various race categories.

The closing and prize distribution ceremony was graced by Mr. Muhammad Umar Pasha, Group Head of Al Baraka Bank, as the Chief Guest, along with Brig. Ali Nawaz. A large number of cycling enthusiasts, sports officials, and dignitaries attended the event to witness the thrilling conclusion of the championship.

SSGC claimed first place with 10 gold medals, followed by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK), which secured 2 gold, 2 silver, and 4 bronze medals. Punjab secured third place with 2 gold, 2 silver, and 2 bronze medals. Islamabad followed closely with 2 gold, 1 silver, and 2 bronze medals.

Balochistan earned 1 gold and 1 bronze, while Bikestan secured 8 silver and 3 bronze medals. Crank Addicts finished with 2 silver and 2 bronze, and POF managed to secure 1 silver and 1 bronze. Sindh, Gilgit, and Ibex Club (GBS) were unable to secure any medals in the championship.

Speaking at the ceremony, Syed Azhar Ali Shah, President of the Pakistan Cycling Federation, expressed his gratitude to Al Baraka Bank for their support. “We deeply appreciate Al Baraka Bank for their commitment to the promotion of cycling in Pakistan. This championship has provided a fantastic platform for athletes to compete at the highest level, and we look forward to even greater participation in the future,” he said.

Mr. Muhammad Umar Pasha, Group Head of Al Baraka Bank, acknowledged the efforts of the Pakistan Cycling Federation in successfully organizing the event.

“The PCF has done a commendable job in conducting such a competitive and professionally managed championship. We are proud to support cycling in Pakistan and hope to see the sport flourish further. These athletes have shown incredible dedication, and their performances reflect the bright future of cycling in our country,” he stated.

The championship concluded with a vote of thanks from the organizers, appreciating the efforts of Al Baraka Bank, the Pakistan Cycling Federation, and all participating teams. The event not only celebrated sporting excellence but also reinforced the growing popularity of cycling in Pakistan.
