Master Paints/Sheikhoo clinch 11th Battle Axe Polo Cup title

LAHORE : Master Paints/Sheikhoo captured the coveted trophy of the 11th Battle Axe Polo Cup 2025, sponsored by TCL, after defeating Master Paints/Skywell in an exciting final played at the Lahore Garrison Polo Grounds.

The closing ceremony was graced by chief guest Muhammad Owais, Marketing Manager TCL Pakistan, who distributed prizes among the finalists.

Also present were Club Secretary Major Babar Mehboob Awan and senior polo officials. The high-profile event also drew a large crowd of polo enthusiasts, families, and club members who gathered to witness the season’s marquee contest.

The final lived up to expectations, producing fast-paced action and impressive horsemanship. Master Paints/Sheikhoo seized control in the opening stages, dominating the first two chukkas to establish a commanding 5–2 lead.

Although Master Paints/Skywell mounted a spirited comeback in the final chukkas, outscoring their opponents by four goals to three, the early deficit proved insurmountable. Master Paints/Sheikhoo held their nerve in the decisive moments to seal a well-deserved 8–6 victory and lift the title.

Star striker Raja Samiullah led from the front with an exceptional five-goal haul, supported by Mir Huzaifa Ahmed with two goals and Osman Aziz Anwar with one.

For Master Paints/Skywell, Raja Temur Nadeem impressed with four goals, while Agha Musa Ali Khan added two. Earlier in the day, Indus Polo claimed the subsidiary final with a commanding performance, rounding off an action-packed conclusion to the tournament.

Lahore : The 11th Battle Axe Polo Cup 2025, sponsored by TCL and hosted by the Lahore Garrison Polo Grounds, delivered exhilarating action on its fifth day as Master Paints/Sheikhoo stormed into the main final, while FG/Din Polo earned their place in the subsidiary final after dominating performances at the Cavalry Polo Field.

A large and lively crowd, featuring families and polo enthusiasts, gathered to witness the competitive fixtures. Among those present were Club Secretary Major (R) Babar Mehboob Awan along with a strong turnout of seasoned polo players, adding to the spirited atmosphere of the event.

In the main encounter of the day, Master Paints/Sheikhoo showcased resilience and precision to defeat SQC Gold/Newage Cables by 10–8, securing their coveted place in the tournament’s grand final set for Sunday. Master Paints/Sheikhoo’s star performer, Raja Samiullah, produced a spectacular display of attacking polo, amassing eight goals on his own, while Mir Huzaifa Ahmed added two crucial strikes to complete the team’s tally.

Despite the loss, SQ Seagolf/Newage Cables put up a commendable fight. Saqib Khan Khakwani was brilliant with six goals, while Shiraz Qureshi and Ali Kuli Khan contributed one goal each. Their spirited effort kept the match competitive until the final chukka, but Master Paints/Sheikhoo held their nerve during the crucial final minutes.

Earlier in the day, FG/Din Polo delivered an impressive performance to overcome Peshawar Polo Club by a convincing 12–6 margin, ensuring their place in the subsidiary final.

The victory was led by the outstanding form of Hamza Mawaz Khan, who struck seven goals, demonstrating excellent control and finishing. Muhammad Ali Malik added three goals, while Manam Faisal chipped in with two, giving FG/Din Polo a comfortable win. For Peshawar Polo Club, despite moments of promise, they struggled to counter the pace and precision of FG/Din’s aggressive offense.

With the results of the day cementing the standings, the championship now heads toward an exciting climax. The main final will be contested between Master Paints/Skywell and Master Paints/Sheikhoo while the subsidiary final will feature FG/Din Polo and Indus Polo, battling for top honours in their category.

LAHORE: The opening day of the 11th Battle Axe Polo Cup 2025 (2 to 6 Goal) produced fast-paced, high-scoring action at the historic Cavalry Polo Field, where Diamond Paints/Din Polo and Team Balochistan emerged victorious in two thrilling encounters.

In the first match of the opening day, Diamond Paints/Din Polo edged Indus Polo 9–7 in a nail-biting finish. Raja Jalal Arsalan was the standout striker of the match with superb five goals, repeatedly breaking through the Indus defence, while Mir Huzaifa Ahmed provided crucial support with fabulous four goals.

Despite a spirited performance from Indus Polo, particularly the goal-scoring efforts of Bilal Haye (3 goals), Ibrahim Khalial (2 goals), Mohammad Ali Malik (2 goals) and Pir Danish (1 goal), Diamond Paints/Din Polo maintained their edge through disciplined team play and timely strikes, thus emerging as winners by 9-7.

In the second match of the opening day, Team Balochistan delivered a commanding performance to defeat Sula Polo by 9–5½, combining attacking aggression with tactical precision.

Raja Mekayial Sami was unstoppable throughout the match, scoring six times in the opening exchanges and setting the tone for Balochistan’s victory. Ahmed Bilal Riaz added another well-taken field goal, while Col Shayan Manzoor Abbasi hammered home a powerful 60-yarder and Umar Ashfaq successfully converted a 30-yard penalty to seal Balochistan’s dominance.

Sula Polo showed resilience with scattered scoring across all four chukkers, including notable efforts from Suleman Baber Aziz with two impressive goals while Saim Abbas, Sub Shahzad and Hamza Ijaz, converting one goal apiece. However, despite their efforts and a half goal handicap advantage, they were unable to contain the continuous pressure from Balochistan, and lost the match by 5½-9.
