BARD Foundation sponsors Aisam Ul Haq’s ‘Ace Academy’ for Tennis

Karachi -. Bilquis & Abdul Razak Dawood (BARD) Foundation has recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), with Pakistan’s former Tennis Star – Aisam ul Haq Qureshi to sponsor his initiative – Ace Academy, with the aim to enrich the future of Tennis in Pakistan. The academy will be scouting young, talented sports people who can be groomed into outstanding athletes, while imparting best-in-class sports knowledge and training.

The MoU signing ceremony was graced by the Managing Trustee of BARD Foundation – Ms. Mehreen Dawood as the signatory of the agreement, along with Zain ul Haq Other guests included the Member Board of Governors – Taimur Dawood, along with a few members of Dawood family and some BARD team members, who appreciated this social-enrichment effort, while expressing their commitment to help the young tennis players elevate their quality of life, with more opportunities to earn fame and fortune.

The Ace Academy will offer a 12-months training program for tennis enthusiasts aged 18 years or younger selected from Lahore, Islamabad, Karachi and Peshawar. The program will be conducted by top coaches of national-repute, to provide customized training, fitness and nutrition plans, to nurture local talents. This whole regime is formulated with clear performance-measures and goals for the participants. Each trainee’s progress is monitored and evaluated regularly, to adjust the methodology, till the 2 best athletes are selected, for their capability to compete well in international tournaments.

The selection-process for this program will comprise of trials in Lahore, Islamabad, Peshawar and Karachi that will continue for the initial 40 days, while athletes will be selected in two age-groups Under-14 & Under-18 (2 boys and 2 girls from each age group will form a group of 4). The selected players will go through 2 hour-long sessions on Techniques: (drills, hitting, points) and Fitness: (endurance, agility, speed). One boy and one girl from each age group, per city, will be awarded the “Ace Mentorship”.

Aisam-ul-Haq will leave for America today

Pakistani tennis star Aisam-ul-Haq will leave for the United States today to participate in the US Open.

In the US Open men’s doubles, Aisam-ul-Haq will be the partner of Dominic Inglot of Great Britain.

Aisam-ul-Haq’s participation in the Cincinnati Open before the US Open will be decided later. The Pakistani tennis star has undergone the mandatory corona test before departure. ۔

Aisam-ul-Haq to play in Cincinnati Open

Pakistani tennis star Aisam-ul-Haq also announced his return to the tennis courts after the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) announced the resumption of tennis competitions from August.

Tennis star Aisam-ul-Haq says he will return to tennis action from the Cincinnati Open and will also participate in the US Open and French Open.

The Association of Tennis Professionals has announced that tennis competitions suspended due to the corona virus will resume on August 14 with the City Open in Washington.

Pakistani tennis star Aisam-ul-Haq will participate in the second event after his recovery from August 22 at the Cincinnati Open, after which he will be in action at the US Open in August and then at the French Open in September.

The national tennis star said he had not played tennis since the Davis Cup tie in March, the lockdown eased and he practiced tennis earlier this month, in addition to keeping himself fit at home The training was continued.

Lahore:Tennis star Aisam-ul-Haq has collected more than Rs 6 million from the auction of goods of various legends. The money will be used to distribute rations to Corona and Lockdown victims.

According to Aisam-ul-Haq, tennis star Roger Federer’s shoes were bought by an organization for Rs 3 million, while a Spanish tennis academy bought Rafael Nadal’s jersey for 10,000 euros.

Australian Open:Bryan brothers end Aisam’s dream run

Pakistan’s tennis ace Aisam ul Haq Qureshi and his partner Marcin Matkowski of Poland crashed out of Australian Open after suffering a straight-sets defeat at the hands of famed American duo of Bob and Mike Bryan in men’s doubles quarterfinals.

The Bryan brothers kept their hopes of a 17th grand slam title alive after wrapping up a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Aisam and Matkowski at Rod Laver Arena on Tuesday.

The American duo took one hour and six minutes to earn the win. The brothers led 5-0 after only 16 minutes, before the 15th seeded Aisam and Matkowski gave a much tougher test in the second set.

Aisam and Matkowski were given a walkover into the quarterfinals after the pair of Radu Albot and Hyeon Chung retired in the round of 16 on Sunday. Aisam became the first ever Pakistani tennis star to reach the quarterfinals of Australian Open.

Aisam and Matkowski defeated the Brazilian and Filipino duo of Demoliner and Treat Huey in straight sets with a score of 7-6, 6-4 in the first round. In the second round they beat Sweden’s Robert Lindstedt and Croatia’s Franko Skugor with a matching score of 7-6, 6-4.
