Afghan team arrive in Pakistan to participatin T20 Blind Cricket World CUP

Afghanistan’s 18 -member blind cricket team and officials arrive in Torkham Peshawar to participate in the fourth Twenty20 Blind Cricket World Cup. Afghanistan is taking part in the Blind Cricket World Cup for the first time.

The team includes Captain Absin Khan, Sardar Wali, Ghulam Rehman, Abdul Malik, Darwan, Bareli, Zabihullah, Sharafat, Ajmal, Samiullah, Farman, Fahim, Asad, Rohullah, Zahid, Izat, Ehsan Samim.

Sanaullah Khan Marwat is the team Coach, while Dr Shafiq is Physio and Syed Jalal is the Trainer.
Two players of the team will join the team after getting the visa.

Meanwhile, the South African blind cricket team will arrive at Allama Iqbal International Airport Lahore on Wednesday, November 20 at 8 am.

The other teams will arrive in Lahore on Thursday, November 21.

Pakistan Blind Cricket Council (PBCC) feels pleasure to inform that Pakistan Blind Cricket Team is touring United Kingdom to participate in IBSA Blind World Games scheduled to be held in Birmingham from 17th to 27th August 2023. Pakistan Blind Cricket Council (PBCC) has selected the following Pakistan Blind Cricket Team to participate in this event. Staged after every four years, the 2023 IBSA World Games will host 11 sports and competitions. World Blind Cricket Ltd and IBSA agreed to add Cricket for the Visually impaired men and women for the first time ever in IBSA World Games 2023. Syed Sultan Shah Chairman PBCC has approved the team and also deputed the following Team officials.

Day-1 Today, the 13th edition of National Bank of Pakistan T-20 Blind Cricket Trophy (Grade1) commenced at Bahawalpur. Syed Sultan Shah (President World Blind Cricket Ltd and Chairman Pakistan Blind Cricket Council), Mr. Ibadat Nisar Regional Police Officer (RPO) Bahawalpur inaugurated the event. Syed Salman Bokhari (Director Cricket Operations PBCC), Mr. Muhammad Bilal (Director Marketing PBCC), Mr. Maqsood ul Hassan Divisional Sports Officer Bahawalpur were the other dignitaries present on the occasion.

1st Match: Bahawalpur Vs Gujranwala: (Venue: Dring Stadium Bahawalpur) First match of the event was played between Bahawalpur and Gujranwala at the Dring Stadium Bahawalpur. In the morning Bahawalpur won the toss and decided to bowl first. Gujranwala made 193 runs in allotted 20 overs for the loss of 7 wickets. Muhammad Akram made 46 runs and Sanwal Shahzada chipped in with 36 runs. Sajid Nawaz took 2 wickets while Muhammad Shahzaib and Babar Ali took a wicket a piece.

In reply, Bahawalpur lost 4 early wickets but Muhammad Ayyaz’s superb innings of 54 runs off 27 balls kept their hopes alive. In the later half, Sajid Nawaz’s 30 runs off 14 balls helped Bahawalpur to reach the target in 18th over for the loss of 8 wickets. Muhammad Akram and Qasim Khalil took 2 wickets each. In 2nd match of the tournament, Lahore won the toss and asked Peshawar to bat first. Peshawar made just 146 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in stipulated 20 overs. Muhammad Waseem was the top scorer with 36 runs while Naeem Ullah made 18 runs. Muhammad Safdar took 3 wickets for 18 runs in 3 overs, Matiullah and Rizwan claimed a wicket a piece.

In reply, Lahore chased the target of 148 runs with ease in just 14.5 overs for the loss of 4 wickets. Muhammad Safdar made 59 runs and Matiullah scored 31 runs. Kazim Ullah and Naeem ullah were among the wickets.

Result: Lahore won by 6 wickets Man of the Match: Muhammad Safdar Two other matches between Attock vs Islamabad and AJK vs Okara is in progress.

Match No. 4

Today, the 4^th match of the tournament was played between Pakistan and India at Skyland University Cricket Ground, Sharjah. Pakistan, with earlier wins against India and Bangladesh, was leading the points table with 6 points.

In the morning, India won the toss and this time elected to bat first. Pakistani bowlers bowled on the tight lines and didn’t allow free runs to Indian batters. Pakistan restricted India to 163 runs on the board for the loss of 8 wickets in stipulated 20 overs. Indian Captain Prakash Jayaramaih was the main run-getter with 79 runs off 64 balls, while Sunil Ramesh chipped in with 24 runs. Badar Munir, Shahzaib Haider, and Anees Javed claimed a wicket apiece.

In reply, Pakistan chased down the target of 164 runs in 18.4 overs for the loss of 3 wickets. Badar Munir and Muhammad Rashid played superbly and made 64 runs each off 34 balls and 48 balls respectively. Riasat Khan got out after scoring 20 runs. Deepak Malik and Irfan Dewan took 1 wicket each for India.

Pakistan with this third consecutive victory has qualified for the Final. Pakistan is the first team to qualify in the final of the Triangular series. Tomorrow, India will play against Bangladesh.

1st National Championship of Blind Women Cricket commenced at Shalimar Cricket Ground Islamabad on 8th March 2022. Four provincial teams named Sindh, Punjab, Islamabad, and KPK are taking part in this event.

The Australian High Commission in Pakistan is funding this event. The event of Blind Women Cricket was aligned with International Women’s Day on March 8^th, 2022.

Mr. Nick Hockley, CEO Cricket Australia, Ms. Joanne Frederiksen Australia’s Deputy High Commissioner to Pakistan, Syed Sultan Shah President World Blind Cricket Ltd as well as Chairman PBCC and Mr. Todd Greenberg, CEO of Australian Cricketers’ Association attended the event, met, and addressed with the participants of Blind Women Cricket event.

Ms. Joanne Frederiksen, Australia’s Deputy High Commissioner to Pakistan said that they appreciate the efforts of the Pakistan Blind Cricket Council in taking this initiative, and on this Women’s Day, they are pleased to support a visually impaired women’s cricket training and championship as this will provide the women & girls with a disability the opportunity to participate in Pakistan’s favorite sport. She assured me they will continue to fund Blind Women Cricket in Pakistan in the future as well.

The Chairman of Pakistan Blind Cricket Council, Syed Sultan Shah, said, “Two blind factory workers invented blind cricket in Melbourne, Australia, in 1922 and it is a highly competitive game which enables people with visual impairment to become people of vision and. Forty-four (44) women & girls with visual impairment are participating in this event, shortlisted across Pakistan from Karachi to Gilgit-Baltistan. He thanked the Australian Government for the much-needed support for this cause. He requested Mr. Nick Hockley to follow the Pakistan Cricket Board model of supporting Men Blind Cricket there in Australia. Pakistan’s men blind cricket is the powerhouse in Blind Cricket and it couldn’t be achieved without the financial assistance of PCB.”

Nick Hockley, CEO of Cricket Australia expressed his pleasure in watching these visually impaired girls playing cricket that are a source of inspiration for all, he said, Australia and Pakistan share a passion for cricket, and on this day Australian men’s team is playing Test Match with Pakistan in Rawalpindi and Australian and Pakistan Women are competing in World Cup game. He was confident that Cricket Australia will play an important part to uplift the Blind Cricket in Australia.

Nick Hockley officially inaugurated the event by hitting the audible blind cricket ball. Nick Hockley and Ms. Joanne Frederiksen played cricket with the visually impaired girls for quite some time.

(Ajman) UAE:Pakistan kept dominating in T-20 series and thrashed England by 170 runs in 5th T-20 International at Ajman Oval Cricket Ground, Ajman. Pakistan has already wrapped the series by 5 games to nil in 6 match series.

Today, England won the toss and put Pakistan into bat. Pakistan sent different opening pairs in each of the 5 games played and today sent Zafar Iqbal (B1) and Mohsin Khan (B3) to open the innings.

Pakistan lost Mohsin in the 5th over of the innings after scoring 34 runs off 18 balls, Pakistan score was 65 at that moment. Thereafter, Haroon Khan and Zafar Iqbal knitted the 232 runs partnership for the 2nd wicket and took the total of Pakistan to 297 in 20 overs for the loss of 1 wicket.

Haroon Khan played terrific unbeaten innings of 116* runs off (58) balls featuring 13 fours and 1 big six. Zafar Iqbal made rapid 88* runs not out off 48 balls. For England, Ameen Ashfari was the only bowler to take a wicket.

The massive target of 298 runs was almost unsurmountable for England. Openers Dan Field and Sam Murray batted throughout the overs and England made 168 runs in 20 overs for no loss.

Sam Murray made 100* runs off 61 balls with the help of 16 (4s) and Dan Field made 48* off 64 balls.

Result: Pakistan won by 129 runs

Pakistan wrapped the 6 match series by 5-0. Mr. Amir Sarfraz, Aircraft Engineer Emirates Airlines was the guest of the occasion and gave away man of the match award.

The 6th and last T20 International will be played tomorrow (Day/Night) on 18th November at the same ground.

(Ajman) UAE:Pakistan outplayed England in 3rd International T-20 played at Ajman Oval Cricket Ground, Ajman.

History was made at the Oval, when Pakistan and England played their first ever under lights T-20 game. Playing under lights was the dream of the many in both teams which was materialized today. Syed Sultan Shah, Chairman PBCC spin the coin for toss on this historic moment.

This time, coin favors England and Ed Hossell, England Team Captain without any hesitation opted to bowl first to avoid the late night due factor.

Pakistani openers slogged England blowers and kept scoring at a brisk rate. Nisar and Muhammad Akram knitted 214 runs for the 1st wicket partnership. Nisar was the first to go after scoring 84 runs off 58 balls. Muhammad Akram played fluently for his unbeaten 105 runs of 65 balls featuring 12 fours. Raisat Khan was run out on duck and Badar Munir hit a long six 6 on the only ball he played.

Pakistan made massive total of 227 runs for the loss of 2 wickets in 20 overs. Ed Hossell was the only bowler to claim the wicket.

Target of 228 runs proved too much for England and their batting line up again failed to made impression. At the half way stage in 10 overs, England was hovering at 64 for 5.

Sam Murray made 16, Dean Field 18, Nathan Foy 2, Andy Powers 8, Mathew Dean 2, Peter Bulliet 12, Nathan Jamson 8 and Nonat Black got out after scoring 8 runs. Ed Hossell remained unbeaten on 36 runs.

England made 151 runs 8 in 20 overs. Sajid Nawaz and Fakhar Abbass took 2 wickets each.

Result: Pakistan won by 76 runs
