KARACHI: The Pakistan-Afghanistan Wheelchair T20 Cricket Series is set to kick off on September 29 at the UBL Sports Complex, Karachi. The opening match will be played on Monday at 6 PM,

while the trophy unveiling ceremony is scheduled for Sunday. According to the Pakistan Wheelchair Cricket Council, this marks Afghanistan’s first-ever wheelchair cricket tour to Pakistan—an important step in strengthening sports diplomacy between the two countries.

The series will also provide Pakistan valuable preparation ahead of the Asia Cup. The four-match series will continue with fixtures on September 30, October 1, and October 2.

Pakistan will be led by captain Muhammad Zeeshan, with Imran Arain as vice-captain. The squad features Muhammad Fayaz, Ahmed Yar Senior, Misal Khan, Sadar Ayub, Tauseef Malik, Mubeen Iqbal, Osama Tariq, Jumma Khan, Ayaz Khan, Zawar Khan, Waqas Saeed, Saeed Bannu, and Sajid Khan. Reserves include Saeed Khan, Shah Faisal, and Gohar Afridi.

Syed Faizan Baqir Naqvi will serve as head coach, while Rizwan-ul-Haq has been appointed as team manager. Pakistan will also host the 3rd Wheelchair Asia Cup in November, with six teams set to compete.

KARACHI  – A historic milestone for wheelchair cricket, as the International Council of Wheelchair Cricket (ICWC) has officially announced the hosting of the inaugural Wheelchair Cricket T20 World Cup 2025 in Pakistan.

This landmark event will take place in May 2025, with 8 teams (Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, United Arab Emirates, Afghanistan, Australia, and Kenya) competing for the coveted world title.

The Pakistan Wheelchair Cricket Council (PWCC) will inaugurate the World Cup with a grand musical performance followed by a vibrant opening ceremony. Speaking on the occasion, Rukhsana Rajput, President of the Pakistan Wheelchair Cricket Council and Chairperson of the World Cup Organizing Committee,

expressed her excitement, stating, “I am thrilled to announce that the first-ever Wheelchair Cricket World Cup will be hosted in Pakistan, with 8 teams participating.

I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to the ICWC members, whose invaluable contributions since 2014 have helped promote wheelchair cricket worldwide.”

Colombo: In the PD Champions Trophy held in Colombo, the capital of Sri Lanka, Pakistan PD suffered a second consecutive defeat by India PD by 5 wickets. At BOI Cricket Ground, Pakistan PD captain Abdullah Ijaz won the toss and decided to bat first.

Pakistan PD Cricket Team scored 138 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Wicket keeper opening batsman Saifullah scored 58 runs off 51 balls with the help of 7 fours and 1 six, Mohammad Noman played an unbeaten innings of 45 runs off 43 balls which included 1 six and 3 fours,

Colombo: Pakistan PD was defeated by England PD by 62 runs in the PD Champions Trophy held in Sri Lanka’s capital Colombo.

England PD captain Callum Flynn won the toss and elected to bat first at the BOI Cricket Ground.

The entire team of England PD was all out by scoring 144 runs in the allotted 20 overs. Hugo Hammond scored 43 off 29 balls with 4 fours and 2 sixes, Liam Obrien scored 25 off 28 balls with 2 fours and 1 six,

while captain Callum Flynn scored 21 runs off just 15 balls with 4 fours.

Waqif Shah took 2 wickets for 19 runs, while Abdul Basit and captain Abdullah Ijaz also took 2, 2 wickets for 25 runs. Chasing 145 runs, Pakistan’s PD batsmen kept losing wickets from the start.

COLOMBO: The Pakistan Physical Disability Cricket Team lost to India Disability Cricket Team by big margin of 109 runs in their match of the Four-nation PD Chaipions Trophy T20 Cricket Tournament at the BOI Cricket ground in Sri Lanka on Sunday.

India won the toss and decided to bat first, posting a formidable total of 160 for the loss of four wickets in their allotted 20 over as Nikhil Manhas scored 59 off 47 balls, hitting three fours and as many as six,

Vikrant Keni made Made 37 off 23 balls with two boundaries and two sixes, Kunal Phanase contributed 30 off 31 balls with four fours.

Wakif Shah captured two wicket for 22 runs, Abdullah Ejaz took 1- 26 and Momin Khan 1- 33.

Chasing 161, Pakistan were all out only 51 runs in ,12.2 overs. Pakistan Physical Disability Cricket Association (PPDCA) organized the first class umpires of Karachi who were recently retired from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) panel at Head Office Karachi.

Rashid and Shamim Ansari while Grade Two umpires Akhtar Qadri and Nazir Butt were honored in a grand ceremony. President Pakistan Physical Disability Cricket Association Imran Balwani graced the ceremony. General Secretary Amir uddin Ansari-Director Imtiaz Iqbal,

PCB match referee Ali Gohar and Media manager Muhammad Nizam honored these retired umpires with Sindhi salary and commendation award for their services.

Addressing the ceremony, first class umpires Zahir Rashid and Shamim Ansari thanked PPDCA President Imran Balwani and General Secretary Ameeruddin Ansari and all friends and said that the association organized a reception in our honor.

A great tradition has been laid down and it is a proof that PPDCA stands by sports. He said that our services for Pakistan Physical Disability Cricket Association are always present.

Director Imtiaz Iqbal paid great tribute to the services of Akhtar Qadri and Nazir Butt besides Zahir Rashid and Shamim Ansari.

Pakistan Physical Disability Cricket Association (PPDCA) President Imran Balwani has said that PPDCA should use all its resources to take the mission forward. The new president,

President Imran Nilwani, expressed these ideas in a meeting with a large number of media representatives at the association’s office, and he was accompanied by General Secretary Amiruddin Ansari.

And Media Manager Muhammad Nizam was also present. General Secretary PPDCA Amiruddin Ansari said that they are planning to participate in the Physical Disability World Cup scheduled in India in December and other international series.

Grade 1 and Grade 2 cricket have been introduced in the Champions. Grade 1 stage has been completed in Karachi, Lahore and Multan.

The Grade 2 Cricket Championship is starting from Monday in Quetta with the match between Larkana and Quetta Bolan, the remaining matches will be played in Sialkot and Faisalabad while the final will be held in Karachi.

PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi lauds efforts of Wheelchair Cricket Team

Members of the Pakistan Wheelchair Cricket Team met with Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi on his invitation at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore on Friday.

It is worth mentioning that the Pakistan Wheelchair Cricket Team won the Asian Wheelchair Championship in Nepal this year after beating Sri Lanka in the final.

Mohsin Naqvi congratulated the Wheelchair Cricket Team on their T20 Wheelchair Cricket Asia Cup 2023 title and awarded them a cheque of PKR 1.5 million. He lauded the team’s efforts and expressed best wishes for the team’s continued success. He also assured PCB’s support for the Wheelchair Cricket Team’s future endeavours.

Members of the Wheelchair Cricket Team expressed their gratitude to the PCB for hosting them and offering them encouragement.

In reply, Fateh Multan won the title for the fourth time by achieving the target of four wickets in the 19th overs, Majid Hussain remained unbeaten by scoring 45 runs with the help of 5 fours, Muhammad Zaman Ali scored 34 runs which included a six and 3 fours.
