Brahampton (July 14, 2023) Team Surrey Jaguars, participating in the Global T20 Canada tournament for the first time, has pinned hopes on Pakistani players.

Before the tournament, head coach Lal Chand Rajput expressed confidence in his squad and said that we have international players with high skills like Iftikhar Ahmed and Mohammad Haris who will play a significant role in bringing success in the tournament.

He further added that the team has several strong players from the Associate Nations as well as from Canada, “The tournament is a unique opportunity for players from Associate Nations and Canada to rub shoulders with international players and develop their skills. I am sure they will be eager to make their mark on the game and showcase their talent. We have a good mixture of players from Associate Nations including Ayan Khan and Jatinder Singh from Oman, Bernard Scholtz from Netherlands and Sandeep Lamichhane, the leg spinner from Nepal,” he remarked.

The Surrey Jaguars will begin their campaign against the Montreal Tigers on the 22nd of July at the CAA Centre in Brampton.

Groups, schedule revealed for WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup, this September in Florida

The World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) and host USA Baseball today announced the groups and game schedule for the XXX WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup® 2021, which will be played from 9-18 September in Sarasota and Bradenton, Florida, USA.

Baseball’s 30th U-18 World Championship will be contested over 50 games, with the world’s best young baseball prospects and teams set to compete over nine days of competition at LECOM Park and Ed Smith Stadium.

Group A features host No. 5 USA, No. 3 Korea, No. 8 Netherlands, No. 12 Canada, No. 25 Brazil and No. 26 South Africa.

Group B features world No. 1 Japan, No. 2 Chinese Taipei, No. 4 Mexico, No. 10 Australia, No. 13 Panama and No. 17 Italy.

The top three teams from Group A will play the top three teams from Group B in the Super Round from 15-17 September, with the top two teams meeting ‘For the Title of World Champion’ on Sunday, 18 September.

The U-18 Baseball World Cups, along with its continental qualifiers, have consistently featured players who have gone on to become some of the biggest names in the sport, such as Japan’s Yu Darvish and Shohei Ohtani; Korea’s Shin-soo Choo; Cuba’s Yasiel Puig and Aroldis Chapman; and Clayton Kershaw, Bryce Harper, Francisco Lindor, Manny Machado and Buster Posey, who all played for USA Baseball’s U-18 National Team.

Chinese Taipei won the last WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup in 2019, defeating then-defending world champions USA in the final, in Gijang, Korea.

The XXX WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup had been originally set to take place in September 2021, but was postponed to 2022 due to the continued impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

WBSC launches upgraded GameTime video platform, will feature games from World Cups, leagues around the world

The World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) is launching a new and improved GameTime OTT platform.

The new platform will allow baseball and softball fans worldwide to watch live and on-demand WBSC-affiliated events, starting with the upcoming WBSC U-12 Baseball World Cup, which is set to open in Tainan City on 29 July.

The new robust platform will live-stream premium international competitions such as the Premier12, WBSC’s flagship event, all Baseball and Softball World Cups, the Baseball5 World Cup, and selected professional and domestic leagues. WBSC/GameTime have showcased games from the iconic Cuban Series Nacional Baseball Series, the Mexican Prosects League, the Nicaraguan Professional Baseball League, the Panama National Baseball League and the Taiwan Baseball5 Championships.

“Baseball and softball are played around the world all year round, and new and loyal fans of our sport want to watch our game year-round as well,” said WBSC President Riccardo Fraccari. “That’s why the WBSC is launching a newly upgraded and powerful OTT platform, which will showcase the WBSC World Cup’s live and on-demand content, starting with the upcoming U-12 Baseball World Cup that opens at the end of the month. With this powerful platform, it will always be GameTime for baseball and softball fans around the world.”

The new GameTime platform is being launched in partnership with Wiistream, with the aim to create a highly user-friendly site to access and navigate.

“Working with the WBSC means we’re delivering content to over two million people on a regular basis,” Wiistream Chief Operating Officer David Johnson said. “Our technology stack scales smoothly to allow fans and followers to watch live baseball or softball anywhere, anytime. Crucially, Wiistream’s version of Gametime.sport allows competitive pricing for all live content.”

Users can register an account with Gametime.sport, then browse to find the event they want to watch. All events will be pay per view, per event or fans can also purchase tournament bundles.
