Inaugural CA Divisional Senior Tournament to start from Thursday

Lahore, 3 August 2022:

The PCB will host its maiden Cricket Associations Divisional Senior Tournament (three-day event) from 4 August to 21 August in all six Cricket Associations. A total of 24 teams will feature in the tournament where around 480 players will get an opportunity to showcase their talent and impress the selectors for the forthcoming domestic season.

These 480 players have been selected after impressing in the recently concluded City Cricket Association Tournament 2022-23 that was played from 19 June to 21 July in the jurisdictions of six Cricket Associations. Around 1,860 players from 93 teams had featured in the CCA tournament.

The CA Divisional Tournament was recently introduced at the pathways level, 24 sides comprising of 480 under-19 players featured in the CA Divisional U19 tournament at six Cricket Associations from 10 to 17 June. The players were selected through their performance in the 93-team CCA U19 Tournament which was held from 21 May to 4 June.

Huzaifa Ibrahim wins the title of 3rd Combaxx Sports National Jr. Squash Championship

Karachi: Young talented Huzaifa Ibrahim unseded player , while exhibiting his brilliant squash talent, has won the title of the prestigious 3rd Combaxx Sports National Junior Squash Championship in style. He won the U-19 Category of this coveted four-day Championship organized at the Roshan Khan/Jahangir Khan Squash Championship.

The CEO of Combaxx Sports, Omar Saeed, was the chief guest along with Rehmat Ullah, Officer-In-Charge of the Pakistan Navy RK/JK Squash Complex, while Sarah Mir also graced the final ceremony.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Omar Saeed said Pakistan is rich in squash talent which can be gauged from the performance of the young upcoming players, what is needed is to provide them ample training opportunities on a modern level.

“For every sport to flourish the junior-level infrastructure needs to be very strong and efficient”, he said, adding our youth have immense talent in squash, which needs patronage at the grass-root level to uplift to the international level.”

He pledged that Combaxx Sports will continue to organize more such events in future as well to provide these young upcoming and extremely talented sportsmen with ample opportunities to shine, excel and represent Pakistan at the International level to regain lost glories for the country in squash.

Later, both Omar Saeed and Rehmat Ullah distributed trophies and awards among the winners and runners-up.

The following are different age categories results of the event:

Boys Under 13: Noman (PAF) defeated Huzaifa Shahid (Sindh) by a set score of 3-1.
Boys Under 15: Umair Arif (KPK) beat Azan Ali (Army)
3-2.
Girls Under 19: Zainab Khan(Army) beat Mehwish Ali (KPK) 3-0.
Boys Under 19: Huzaifa Ibrahim ( Sindh) beat Junaid Khan (Punjab) 3-0.

Awards in honor of International Athletes and Sports Journalists to be held in September: Asim Shiraz

PESHAWAR: The General Body Meeting of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sports Writers Association was held under the chairmanship of President Asim Shiraz in which General Secretary Shahid Afridi, Senior Vice President Imran Yousafzai and other officials and members were present. The President of the Association Asim Shiraz in his address announced that next month in August for the members of the KP Sports Writers Association. A proposal has been made to hold an awards ceremony in September with a sports gala to be held.

The best national and international coverage at the event, including Lifetime Achievement Awards for best covering journalists, TV channel reporters and senior journalists. Awards will be given to the best performers for which a committee consisting of senior journalists will be constituted. All Reporters TV, Print Media have been directed to submit their best performance ‘Reports’ videos to the Association till August 31. President The meeting decided to take all possible steps for the success of the International Sports Writers Federation Conference held in Peshawar in the last week of October and assured full cooperation to the Pakistan Sports Writers Federation in this regard.

It was also decided at the meeting that a delegation of officials of Sports Writers Association would soon meet Provincial Sports Minister Atif Khan. This will continue. President Asim Shiraz paid tribute to his colleagues for the excellent coverage and directed that participation in all sports events be ensured.
