Lahore, 15 May 2025: Lahore Qalandars have confirmed the inclusion of Bangladesh’s legendary all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan for the remainder of the HBL Pakistan Super League Season 10. He will join he squad on May 17 in Islamabad.

Shakib, widely regarded as one of Bangladesh’s greatest cricketers, boasts an exceptional T20 record with 7,438 runs and 492 wickets, including career-best bowling figures of 6 for 6. A proven performer in T20 leagues around the world, his arrival is expected to strengthen Lahore Qalandars’ depth and balance as the team approaches the final stages of the group round.

Shakib replaces Daryl Mitchell, who is unavailable due to a hand injury sustained during his last over against Karachi Kings on May 4. He got a blow on his left hand in 14.2 overs in Gaddafi Stadium in a rain-effected contest.

Expressing his excitement about joining the side, Shakib Al Hasan said: “I’m really happy to join Lahore Qalandars for the ongoing PSL season. We’re at a crucial stage of the competition where every game counts. It’s a tournament I’ve always enjoyed watching, and now I’m looking forward to contributing on the field. Abu Dhabi is nice place to play cricket says Shakib al Hasan

Bangla Tigers captain Shakib al Hasan believes that the Abu Dhabi T10 has grown as a competition over the past several years and has managed to garner attention from the world’s best players.

International superstars including Jos Buttler, Jonny Bairstow, Marcus Stoinis, Matthew Wade, Lockie Ferguson, Rashid Khan, are among several others who are participating in the ongoing 2024 Abu Dhabi T10, the eighth edition of the league

.Shakib’s remarks came after his side lost to New York Strikers by 7 wickets at Zayed Cricket Stadium in their second game of the season. Despite the defeat, the bowling performances of Shakib and fellow teammate and Afghanistan Captain Rashid Khan remained highlight for his team, as the duo managed to trouble the opposition in a low-scoring contest.

The former Bangladesh Captain, after the match, said, “Today there was the help for the spinners on the surface. They bowled really well. All the spinners will have some assistance. As far as T10 is concerned, it has grown a lot.

All the big players are willing to come here and play. If you see all the big names are coming in this tournament. It is a lovely place to be here in Abu Dhabi to play good competitive cricket for about two weeks.”

This is the second season in Abu Dhabi T10 for Shakib since 2022. Previously, he led the Tigers as skipper in the 2022 season, when the side finished in the final position.

Under his guidance, Bangla Tigers are hoping to clinch their first trophy in Abu Dhabi, after winning the Zim Afro T10 trophy earlier this year.
