By Nawaz Gohar ; In a major show of solidarity within the sports media fraternity, the Pakistan Sports Writers Federation (PSWF) has extended its warmest congratulations to the newly elected office bearers of the Sports Writers Association of Punjab (SWAP).

The national body expressed absolute confidence that the incoming leadership will usher in a dynamic, proactive era dedicated to safeguarding the rights and elevating the professional standards of sports journalists across the province.

In a joint congratulatory message, PSWF President (and AIPS Asia Secretary General) Amjad Aziz Malik, alongside PSWF Secretary General Asghar Azeem, hailed the successful and seamless execution of the SWAP elections. They described the democratic transition as a powerful testament to the community’s deep-rooted commitment to constitutional values and meritocracy.”

Sports journalists in Pakistan are not merely reporters of the game; they are the true custodians of press freedom and ambassadors of democratic traditions,” the PSWF leadership stated, underscoring the vital role that representative bodies play in fostering professional growth, unity, and independence.

The apex federation expressed immense optimism that under the stewardship of newly elected President Sohail Ali and General Secretary Shahzad Malik, SWAP will vigorously address the pressing challenges faced by its members. The PSWF emphasized the need for creating robust platforms that highlight the creative and intellectual contributions of Punjab’s sports journalists on both national and international stages.

Furthermore, PSWF Secretary General Asghar Azeem paid a special, glowing tribute to veteran sports journalist Shahid Sheikh on his appointment as Chairman of SWAP. Azeem noted that Sheikh’s decades of unparalleled industry experience and wisdom would serve as a vital anchor, ensuring organizational unity, structural strength, and the swift resolution of provincial media grievances.

The Pakistan Sports Writers Federation extends its official felicitations to the complete lineup of the newly elected SWAP leadership: Chairman Shahid Sheikh, President Sohail Ali, Senior Vice President Farrukh Atta Butt, Vice President Amir Raza Khan, General Secretary Shahzad Malik, Joint Secretary Hafiz Shahbaz Ali, Finance Secretary Ashar Butt, Information Secretary Azhar Masood.
