The world’s best Para swimmers will meet across the globe in 2023 in the new Citi Para Swimming World Series.

Seven years after its launch the World Series will have a new format, more events, and an exclusive title partner as Citi continues its long-standing support to World Para Swimming in the 2023 and 2024 seasons.

The Citi Para Swimming World Series is set to run from February to November in nine cities in the Americas, Asia, Europe and Oceania.

Melbourne, Australia will kick off the season from 17 to 19 February followed by Lignano Sabbiadoro, Italy and Sheffield, Great Britain in March.

Indianapolis, USA will host the Citi Para Swimming World Series in April with the season then moving to Singapore, Germany and France in May.

Mexico will welcome the Series in October 2023 with a final stop in Greece still to be confirmed. The complete tentative calendar can be found below.

Craig Nicholson, Head of World Para Swimming, said: “It is great to be able to announce the calendar for the 2023 and 2024 Citi Para Swimming World Series. We are proud to have Citi as the title partner of the new Series. It was a key objective for the sport to be able to communicate the calendar further in advance to allow teams and athletes more time to plan their programmes through the seasons.”

“We are also pleased to have four new hosts that will extend the opportunities for international racing to nine events across the year, in four out of five regional areas. The partnership with Citi will help to further grow the World Series and provide volunteer opportunities at the events,” Nicholson added.

“Our team is excited to continue to help drive growth of Para sports through International Federations and change perceptions of people with disabilities,” said Ryan Djabbarah, Citi’s Global Head of Sponsorships, Entertainment & Experiential, “Since 20128, Citi has supported Para swimmers from around the globe and we look forward to seeing these incredible athletes compete on the world stage.”

Ireland’s Para swimmer Ellen Keane said: “I’m so excited to see the announcement of the Citi Para Swimming World Series calendar for 2023 and 2024. The World Series events are integral part of the Para swimming calendar. As an athlete they are a great opportunity for race practise and to compete against the best in the world. The provide important pit stops on the road to the Paralympic Games. I can’t wait to be back racing again at the World Series events.”

Liliana Suarez, President of the Mexican Paralympic Committee, said: “The Mexican Paralympic Committee (COPAME) is more than happy to be part of the Citi Para Swimming World Series following our first event in 2022. Mexico is showing it is ready to receive Para swimmers from around the world.”

LAHORE (Jan 15, 2022): The trials activities for the selection of all divisional teams in connection with upcoming 73rd Punjab Games remained continue in several districts of the province on Friday on the directions of Director General Sports Punjab Javed Chohan.

It is pertinent to mention here that 73rd Punjab Games will be organised at different venues of Lahore from January 24-27, 2022 under the auspices of Sports and Youth Affairs Department Punjab.

Director General Sports Punjab Javed Chohan in a statement on Friday said that a large number of male and female athletes of the province are participating in the trials with keen interest. “Punjab province has plenty of sports talent for all games and young talented male and female players are showing marvelous performance in the trials”.

Director General Sports Punjab Javed Chohan said all the divisional selection committees have been issued strict directions to pick up their sports teams purely on merit. “Punjab Games is a major sports event and there will be no compromise on merit especially in the trials process,” he added.  

The aspiring players of Faisalabad division took part in baseball, male and female archery, karate, athletics, table tennis, hockey, badminton and football trials on Friday. The trials of three games – wrestling, handball and hockey were held in DG Khan. Multan organized football, badminton and table tennis trials under the supervision of vigilant selectors.

Hundreds of male and female players appeared in badminton, handball, table tennis, basketball and hockey trials in Sargodha. The Rawalpindi division also hosted table tennis trials on Friday.

Different venues of Lahore also hosted male and female trials of five games – archery, boxing, karate, swimming and gymnastics.

Nishtar Park Sports Complex (NPSC) Punjab Archery Academy hosted male/female archery trials on the 4th day while the swimming trials were conducted at NPSC Punjab International Swimming Complex.

Dozens of players appeared in boxing and karate trials at Nishtar Park Sports Complex Gymnasium Hall while the gymnastic trials were conducted at Gymnastic Hall of Govt College University under the supervision of watchful selectors.

Islamabad:Froebels International School Margalla Campus lifted the swimming competitions of the Women Sports Festival here at Swimming Pool, Pakistan Sports Complex on Saturday.
Froebels International School was awarded the best school swimming team while Lahore Grammar School Islamabad Campus was the runner up team.
Dua Usman was the best swimmer of 8 and under while Raaqiah Aqeel was best swimmer of 10 and under.


Haania Irfan (Best swimmer 12 and under), Ayeshah Saad (Best swimmer 14 and under), Maham Ali (Best swimmer 16 and under) and Raaidah Aqeel (Best swimmer open age) were the other winners.
Shazia Ejaz, Assistant Director Pakistan Sports Board, who is also the Organizing Secretary said more then 100 players participated in the event. He told that tenpin bowling and futsal competitions will be played on Sunday at Jinnah Park Rawalpindi and Rodhall Hall, respectively. LAHORE: The training camps of Sports Board Punjab (SBP) contingent have started at Nishtar Park Sports Complex on Friday.

These camps are being conducted on the directions of Secretary Sports Punjab Muhammad Aamir Jan for the preparation of upcoming 4th Inter-Provincial Games scheduled to be held at Peshawar.

On Friday, the camp trainees of basketball, kabaddi and swimming were given training by qualified coaches of Sports Board Punjab. Deputy Director Hafeez Bhatti also inspected the training camps under way at different venues.

The camp of swimming probables was launched at Punjab International Swimming Complex while the camps of basketball and kabaddi players have been established at Nishtar Park Sports Complex Gymnasium Hall.Secretary Sports Punjab Muhammad Aamir Jan has advised the expert coaches to prepare Punjab athletes fully for the mega event. “Our players will face tough challenge from the best teams of the country at 4th Inter-Provincial Games that’s why it’s very important for our coaches to put their focus not only on the playing techniques but also on fitness of the players,” he added.After the completion of camp training, Punjab’s final teams will be selected for upcoming Inter-Provincial Games.

Director Admin Javed Rasheed Chohan, Divisional Sports Officer Nadim Qaiser and other top officials were also present on this occasion. The above-mentioned dignitaries inspected various parts of the modern swimming pool.

Talking on this occasion, Chairman Steering Committee Sports Punjab Hanif Abbasi said SBP has been introducing top standard sporting facilities in various parts of the province to flourish young talent in the country. “International Swimming Pool Complex is yet another international standard sporting facility in the provincial capital,” he added.

Punjab Minister for Sports Jahangir Khanzada said that the SBP swimming pool will be first of its kind in the country. “The swimming pool is laced with facility of warm and cold water and the temperature of the water can be changed as per requirement and weather conditions,” he disclosed.

Secretary Sports Punjab Muhammad Aamir Jan, on this occasion said: “It will help Pakistan in producing several international level swimmers. Our country has plenty of potential in every field including sports. It needs just proper grooming and international level facilities and training,” he further said.
