Pakistan’s Sohail Adnan Wins British Junior Open Squash Championship

Pakistani squash sensation Sohail Adnan has etched his name in history by clinching the gold medal in the Under-13 category at the British Junior Open Squash Championship, ending an 18-year title drought for Pakistan in the prestigious tournament.

In a nail-biting final held on Monday, the 12-year-old defeated Egypt’s top-seeded player, Moiz Tamir Al-Mughazi, with a spectacular comeback.

Despite being down 2-1 in sets, Adnan displayed remarkable resilience, securing a 3-2 victory with scores of 11-5, 5-11, 6-11, 11-7, and 11-5.

His exceptional performance throughout the tournament has brought immense pride to Pakistan, marking a significant milestone in the nation’s squash history.

Earlier in the championship, Adnan showcased his dominance by defeating Malaysia’s Wain Isaac Wilson in the pre-quarterfinals and registering straight-set victories over Germany’s Mats Oliver Efken and Scotland’s Calum Smith.

Pakistan’s renowned female sports fitness expert, nutritionist ,physiotherapist Dr.Mahjabeen Farooqui Deportment (LUMHS) , M.S. Sports Physical therapy (RIU-Islamabad) has said that athletes should adopt scientific principles to give the best performance at the world level.

For relief from sports injuries, timely diagnosis of fitness problems, consultant sports medicine, specialist doctor, and physiotherapist should be consulted.

Speaking to the media, the head of the medical wing of the World Junior Tennis Championship in Islamabad said that the players at the international and domestic levels face problems in the diagnosis of pain.

There is a need to work on the fitness of athletes in Pakistan. Fitness expert sports medicine is responsible for the timely diagnosis, treatment and rehab of sportsmen’s problems with the understanding and decision-making ability of sports culture.

By liaising with consultant, physiotherapist t and trainers to ensure the fitness of the players, Pakistan is a great opportunity to showcase the natural talent of the world-class tennis game.

He said that sports culture in Pakistani people will help to solve many problems. Players should minimize the use of medicine. Pakistan is trying to keep the players away from medicine.

He said that I myself participated in gymnastics badminton competitions from school level, I wanted to become a national athlete while my parents wanted to make me a doctor.

Karachi: Municipal Commissioner of Saddar Town, Noor Hassan Jokhio, emphasized that the development of sports fields is a reflection of the fact that the youth of our country are interested in positive activities.

“There is immense talent present in the city of Karachi, and what is needed now is proper encouragement and mentorship for the players. Sports should be integrated into all aspects of life to provide the younger generation with a positive environment where they can utilize their full potential.”

Noor Hassan Jokhio said this during the opening ceremony of the Metropolitan Football Cup at Maulana Muhammad Ali Johar Park (Kakri Ground), where he also distributed kits to the Saddar Town football team.

Present at the event were Shahid Baloch, Chairman of Karachi Metropolitan Corporation’s Sports Committee, Senior Director of Sports KMC, Raza Abbas Rizvi, and Director of Sports Saddar Town, Asif Azim.

The Municipal Commissioner of Saddar Town further said that football is the most played and watched sport in the world. He congratulated Mayor Karachi, Barrister Murtaza Wahab, and his team for organizing the Metropolitan Football Cup in the city, adding that the participation of all the towns in Karachi will help bring new talent to the forefront.

He also mentioned that the Saddar Town administration is taking all possible steps to promote and develop sports. “Our goal is to provide our young players with ample opportunities to showcase their talents so that they can bring honor to their town, city, province, and country in the future,” he said.

On this occasion, the Municipal Commissioner instructed the Director of Sports to ensure that all necessary facilities are provided to the Saddar Town football team during matches and practice sessions.

International MMA champion Sangram Singh is excited to announce that he plans and wants to focus on winning the World Championship in MMA.

Being India’s first male wrestler to win his exciting MMA debut over Pakistani fighter Ali Raza Nasir in 93 kg, Fit India icon and Commonwealth Heavyweight wrestling champion is eager to drop to 83 kg where he feels his speed and agility will give him an advantage.

“I feel that moving to the 83 kg category will allow me to showcase my strengths even more effectively,” Singh stated. “I’m ready to take on this challenge and prove I can compete at the highest level.”

Despite winning his recent MMA debut, Singh still receives criticism over his fighting style, as the International MMA champion shares, “People say I’m not in the right age bracket for success, but I believe that passion and dedication are what truly matter in this sport,” he emphasized.

“I’ve heard comments about kicks not working or how I might break my jaw, but those opinions only fuel my determination. I’m here to redefine what’s possible in MMA.” added Sangram Singh
