Culture of bogus sports federation should be eliminated. It is time to clean Pakistan from such fictitious federations who do not fulfill the basic requirements of Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) and have been participated in international events said international badminton coach Raziuddin Ahmad talking to the Sportslinkpk.com
Working from home due to Covid-19 virus Razi pointed out that it is found, a number of baseless sports federations are working in Pakistan whose basic structure of Clubs, Tehsil, Districts and Provincial is mysterious even they don’t organize their clubs to national championship regularly as per national sports policy like Ball Badminton Federation of Pakistan, Pakistan Korfball Federation, Pakistan Slingshot Federation, Pakistan Flying Disc (Frisbee) Federation, Rope Skipping Federation of Pakistan, Fencing Federation, Roller Skating Federation, and Ball Hockey Federation. Adding to elegance amazingly some of them have been enjoyed international trips with zero performance disgracing the name of the country but nobody knows their hidden benefits.
Identifying about the unknown federations Razi revealed that men and women team of Ball Badminton Federation of Pakistan did participate in Asian Ball Badminton Championship 2007 held at Amritsar, India. Similar case is of Pakistan Korfball Federation which is a mixed team game comprise on four men and four women has been took part in Asian Championship in India 2008 and Asia-Oceania Championship at China 2010. It is very much clear that the common public plus sports community is not familiar with the names of these games. The playground or courts of these games are never been observed in the country. If these are not on the panel of PSB or POA then who did issue the NOC to represent Pakistan in the esteemed championships?
Indeed these federations are beating black and blue of the Government of Pakistan’s mission statement about sports as “the policy aims at promotion of sports at grass root level, enhancing public affiliation with the teams, ensuring all tournaments originate from inter-club level and culminate at the national level”
Razi defined “in fact, sports federations are the governing bodies, working nationwide through a system from basic clubs to national level then top national players get the honor to represent the country at international events, while incapable players are enjoying worldwide tournaments directly through these self-made sports associations and dishonor the name of the country”.
Pakistan Sports Board the controlling authority of sports federation must look into the matter and take necessary steps to stop bogus so-called federations from their international appearance, Razi demanded.
