Punjab University girls win four titles (archery, cricket, badminton and table tennis) out of seven games

The exciting sports competitions of First Chief Minister Punjab Pink Games 2024 concluded here on Sunday.

Punjab University girls won four titles (archery, cricket, badminton and table tennis) out of seven games, Lahore College for Women University (LCWU) emerged winners in two games (athletics and basketball) while Superior University managed to win hockey title during the 4-day sports extravaganza.

Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar and Director General Sports Punjab Pervez Iqbal have congratulated the title winning teams in seven games and appreciated the game and discipline of runners up and other participating teams.

In the hockey event of First CM Punjab Pink Games, Superior University defeated Government College Women University (GCWU) by a narrow margin of 4-3 on penalty shootouts at the National Hockey Stadium pitch-2 on Sunday. The thrilling match was tied at one goal apiece during the allotted time.

Punjab University defeated Bahauddin Zakaria University by 4-0 in the third position match.

In the basketball final of CM Punjab Pink Games, Lahore College for Women University (LCWU) outplayed University of Sargodha by a huge difference of 98-5. Hamda and Alishba scored 18 and 16 points respectively for Lahore College for Women University.

In the third position match, Government College University Lahore defeated Government University Sialkot by 37-4. Muqaddas and Eisha netted 14 and seven points respectively for victorious team Government College University Lahore.

In the cricket final of CM Punjab Pink Games, Punjab University defeated Lahore College for Women University (LCWU) by 65 runs to win the coveted title.

Punjab University batted first and scored 122 runs in the allotted overs while in reply Lahore College Women University could score only 57 runs.

In the table tennis final of CM Punjab Pink Games, Punjab University trounced Kinnaird College by 3-1. In the final day matches, Zainab Waqar beat Tania by 3-0 11-7, 11-9, 11-5, Alishba beat Hadia Noor by 3-1 11-5, 11-8, 13-11, Laila beat Mahnoor by 3-1 12-10, 11-7, 11-3 and Alishba beat Zainab Waqar by 3-2 11-7, 11-8, 11-8, 11-7.

In the 3rd position match, LCWU defeated GCU Lahore. Maryam beat Ayesha by 3-1 11-7, 11-9, 119, 13-11, Khadija beat Syeda by 3-0 11-4, 11-8, 11-3 and Zoha beat Ayesha by 3-0 11-7, 11-8, 11-4.

In the badminton final of CM Punjab Pink Games, Punjab University won gold medal with 100 points. University of Lahore clinched silver with 80 points followed by FCCU Lahore, which bagged bronze medal with 60 points.

In the badminton final match, Punjab University toppled University of Lahore by 3-0. Sehar (PU) beat Muqaddas (UOL) by 21-9, 24-22 in first single match. Zainab & Samiya (PU) beat Marium & Maria (UOL) by 21-6, 21-8 in the first double encounter and Zainab (PU) beat Maneeza (UOL) by 21-6, 21-3 in second singles match.

Forman Christian College University Lahore beat Bahauddin Zakariya University Multan by 3-0 in the 3rd position match
