5th Interloop Quaid-e-Azam Wheelchair Cricket Trophy to kick off in Faisalabad from Feb 8

By Nawaz Gohar ; The Pakistan Wheelchair Cricket Council (PWCC) has announced that the 5th Interloop Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2026, the nation’s largest domestic wheelchair cricket tournament, will commence in Faisalabad on February 8.

The high-profile T20 event will feature six regional powerhouses: Sindh, Punjab, Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK), Azad Kashmir, and the defending champions, Gilgit-Baltistan. The tournament is expected to showcase the country’s top athletic talent, with both national and international wheelchair cricketers set to participate.

Organizers have emphasized that this year’s trophy is particularly focused on providing a platform for emerging young players. Beyond the domestic title, the event holds immense strategic importance as it serves as a selection trial for the upcoming 3rd T20 Wheelchair Asia Cup, which Pakistan is slated to host in Karachi and Hyderabad.

Tournament Schedule: Total Matches: 10, Format: T20, Trophy Unveiling: February 7 at a local hotel in Faisalabad, featuring cricketers and dignitaries. The Grand Finale: A spectacular day-and-night final scheduled for February 12 at the Bohranwali Ground.

This tournament marks a significant step forward in the promotion of inclusive sports in Pakistan, providing athletes with physical disabilities the opportunity to compete at the highest domestic level under the floodlights.
