Faraz Ali opened the second round of the Cricket Associations Championship 2021-22 with a 179-ball 130 as Sindh scored 374 all out in their match against Southern Punjab at the Rana Naved ul Hasan Cricket Academy, Sheikhupura.
Faraz struck 15 boundaries when he came in to bat with the scorecard reading 88 for two. Saim Ayub and Omair Bin Yousuf recorded half-centuries on the first day of the three-day contest before Sindh were rolled out in 82.5 overs. Southern Punjab’s Ali Usman took four wickets for 83 runs, while Mohammad Umair returned two for 59.
Southern Punjab lost one wicket – opener Sharoon Siraj – in the 1.5 overs. Waqar Hussain and Ali Usman will resume Southern Punjab’s innings at nine for one on Monday.
Central Punjab’s Imran Dogar was the other centurion on the first day of the round as the opener smashed 10 fours and three sixes in his 164-ball 102 against Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at the LCCA Ground.
Mohammad Irfan Khan scored 74 off 61 – hitting two fours. One-drop Ali Zaryab was the other batter to score a half-century in the innings, scoring 62 off 76 (three fours and three sixes).
Central Punjab has made 340 for six in their allotted 83 overs. Zohaib Khan was the leading wicket-taker with three scalps, costing 57 runs.
Like Southern Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa also lost their opener before the close of play. They were nine for one after six overs.
Balochistan were all out for 277 in 81.1 overs against Northern at the Iqbal Stadium, Faisalabad as Mehran Mumtaz recorded a five-wicket haul and Raza Hasan took four for 103.
Balochistan openers Imran Butt and Azeem Ghumman and middle-order batter Shahbaz Khan recording half-centuries. Imran made 58 off 84 (seven fours and a six), Azeem, the captain of the side, made 67 off 123 (eight fours) and Shahbaz scored 53 off 134 (three fours).
Northern’s Mohammad Huraira and Abdul Faseeh will resume Northern’s innings at 11 for no loss.
