PESHAWAR: By ; Ghani Ur Rehman
Sarfaraz Khan, the Secretary of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Archery Association and a qualified archery coach, has been instrumental in advancing the sport of archery not only in Peshawar but throughout the entire Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
A skilled archer himself, Sarfaraz has completed coaching courses at both national and international levels. His efforts are focused on identifying and nurturing talent at the grassroots level to prepare the champions of tomorrow.
Sarfaraz Khan has established archery clubs across various districts of the province, including Peshawar, Swat, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Nowshera, Kohat, and others.
These clubs are equipped with essential training gear, and expert coaches have been appointed to provide daily training to the athletes. These initiatives are crucial for the development of young archers who are honing their skills under professional guidance.
In a recent interview, Sarfaraz Khan highlighted the financial challenges faced in the development of archery. Despite the high cost of equipment and the lack of grants from the provincial sports department, he has managed to provide the necessary resources through his own means.
He emphasized that the role of clubs is vital in the development of any sport, and therefore, it was essential to ensure that the archery clubs across the province are fully equipped.
Sarfaraz Khan’s dedication is a testament to the fact that strong determination can overcome financial constraints in the pursuit of sports development.
Under his leadership, archery in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is on the rise, and it is hoped that world-class archers will soon emerge from this region.
