Garrisons wins Sindh Pink Football Championship
The final of Sindh Pink Football Championship held between Karachi United and Garrison teams, won by one goal
Diya Football team secured third place, while Lyari Football team finished at fourth
16 teams from across Sindh, including Tharparkar, Jacobabad, and Ghotki, participated in the event
Secretary of Sports, Abdul Aleem Lashari, and Parliamentary Secretary, Saima Agha, presented trophies and cash prizes to the winners.
Karachi : The Sindh Pink Football Championship, organized by the Department of Sports & Youth Affairs, was held at the newly constructed Lyari International Football Stadium. Garrison Football Academy won the three-day event, while Karachi United Football Team was the runner-up. Diya Football Team secured third place.
The championship was inaugurated on Friday, 6 December, by PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari. The opening ceremony was attended by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Sardar Muhammad Baksh Khan Mahar, cabinet ministers, MNAs, MPAs, and thousands of football enthusiasts.
The Sindh Pink Football Championship featured teams including Larkana Lions, Hazara Women’s Football, Overseas Women’s Football Club, DWF Club, Karachi City, Ghotki Warriors, Sukkur Sultans, Mirpurkhas Marvi’s, Naseem Hameed Sports Academy, Tharparkar Thunder, Garrison Academy, Hyderabad Heroes, Young Muslim Women’s Football Club, Lyari Football Academy, Shaheed Benazirabad Strikers, Diya Football, and Karachi United Football Academy.
In the final held on Sunday, the winning team received a cash prize of three lakh, the runner-up got two lakh, the third-place team won 75,000, and the fourth-place team received 50,000 rupees. Football players were also awarded medals, shields, and certificates.
During the closing ceremony, Secretary of Sports Abdul Aleem Lashari thanked the Minister for Sports, Sardar Muhammad Bux Khan Mehr, for his special interest in organizing such a large-scale championship. He also expressed heartfelt gratitude to PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, all ministers, and the people of Lyari for their support in making this event a success.
He further mentioned that the department is organizing various events, and now our teams are going to participate in the Quaid-e-Azam Games in Islamabad. During the winter holidays, free sports coaching classes will be held across Sindh for the first time. Later, there will be sports events for special persons in January, National Games in February, Pink Sports Week in March, and Sindh Games in April, along with numerous other activities will be organized by the department.
Aleem Lashari also revealed that the department will hold the first-ever E-Sports Championship, which will be a historic event.
