Muhammad Yaqoob Denounces Fake and Illegal Elections of Karachi Basketball Association
Karachi, Pakistan – December 20, 2024 ;
Muhammad Yaqoob, former Acting President of the Karachi Basketball Association (KBA), has strongly condemned the recently conducted fake and illegal elections of the association. In a statement released today,
Yaqoob clarified his position, stating, “I was not present at these so-called elections, and my name was included as Senior Vice President (SVP) without my knowledge or consent. This is a gross misrepresentation, and I reserve the right to pursue legal action against the organizers of these illegitimate elections.”
Yaqoob further highlighted that earlier this year, in May 2024, the former President of the KBA, Ghulam Muhammad Khan, was suspended by the Pakistan Basketball Federation (PBBF) during its General Council Meeting.
Following this decision, the PBBF established a Scrutiny and Management Committee to oversee the process of identifying legitimate clubs in Karachi and ensuring that fair and transparent elections are conducted.
“The Committee is currently in the process of scrutinizing the legitimacy of basketball clubs in Karachi,” Yaqoob added. “This is a necessary step to ensure the integrity of the sport and prevent any unauthorized activities that undermine the credibility of the association.”
Yaqoob urged the basketball community and stakeholders to support the ongoing efforts of the PBBF to restore order and transparency within the Karachi Basketball Association.
