Pakistan’s Triathlon Team Makes Historic Debut at 3rd Asian Youth Games in Bahrain
Manama, Bahrain – For the first time in history, Pakistan’s triathlon team proudly participated in the 3rd Asian Youth Games, held in Bahrain, marking a significant milestone for the nation’s growing presence in multi-sport events across Asia.
The participation symbolized Pakistan’s commitment to nurturing young athletes and expanding its representation in endurance sports on the continental stage.
The Pakistani contingent was led by Mr. Abdul Ghaffar Gujjar, who served as both Head Coach and Team Manager, guiding the young triathletes through their debut international experience.
Representing Pakistan were Mr. Azaan Maqbool and Ms. Ayesha Waqas, both competing in the youth category of triathlon, which combines swimming, cycling, and running into one of the most demanding Athletics disciplines.
In a commendable performance, Ms. Ayesha Waqas secured 22nd position in the overall triathlon event, an impressive result for Pakistan’s first-ever entry into this competition.
Her performance demonstrated determination, discipline, and potential for further growth in future international competitions.
The participation of Pakistani triathletes in the 3rd Asian Youth Games marks a new chapter in the nation’s sports history.
And it would not have been possible without the help or guidance by the President of Pakistan Olympic association Mr. Arif Saeed and General secretary Pakistan Olympic association Mr. Khalid Mahmood along with his dedicated team.
It highlights the country’s emerging talent in endurance sports and sets the stage for future representation in international triathlon competitions, including the Asian Games and Youth Olympics.
