Haider Ali credits Shadab Khan for renewed confidence

By Nawaz Gohar ;  Islamabad United batsman Haider Ali recently spoke with the media, reflecting on his journey and evolving role in the game.

He shared that his career began at the U-19 level, leading to a breakout inaugural PSL season where he was named the “Best Emerging Player.” During that time, he credited legends like Shoaib Malik and Mohammad Hafeez for their invaluable mentorship.

Addressing the shift in his batting position, Haider noted that while he started as an opener, he has transitioned into a middle-order and finisher role to meet the requirements of both the national team and his franchise.

He admitted that moving from the top order to the middle order is a challenging transition, but emphasized that he is working rigorously to adapt his game to these new demands.

Responding to criticism regarding his batting technique, Haider stated that every player has a unique style and he prefers to play in a way that makes him feel confident.

He expressed gratitude toward the Islamabad United management and captain Shadab Khan for their unwavering trust. “My priority is winning matches for the team rather than focusing on personal milestones,” he remarked.

Haider also highlighted his match-winning performance in the semi-final against Peshawar Zalmi last season as the most memorable innings of his career.
