Dominant Pakistan clinch ODI Series with crushing 206-run victory Over Zimbabwe

By Nawaz Gohar ;  Pakistan’s women’s cricket team delivered a resounding statement of intent at the National Bank Stadium on Wednesday, dismantling Zimbabwe by 206 runs in the second One-Day International (ODI) to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.

In a match defined by complete dominance, the hosts combined historic batting performances with a clinical bowling display, ensuring the visitors never stood a chance in the chase.

Batting first, Pakistan’s foundation was built on the artistry of openers Sadaf Shamas and Gull Feroza. The duo redefined aggression and control, stitching together a mammoth 189-run opening partnership—the second-highest opening stand in the history of Pakistan Women’s ODI cricket.

Gull Feroza was the first to reach the milestone, elegantly crafting her maiden ODI century off 95 deliveries, punctuated by 13 boundaries. Not to be outdone, Sadaf Shamas followed suit with a composed ton of her own, scoring 101 off 112 balls. Her innings, which included 10 fours and a six, solidified her status as a cornerstone of the batting lineup.

Following their departure, the momentum remained unchecked. Sidra Amin anchored the middle order with an unbeaten 59 off 58 deliveries—her 15th ODI half-century—while cameos from captain Fatima Sana (25 off 13) and Aliya Riaz (27 off 14) accelerated the scoring, pushing Pakistan to a formidable total that proved far beyond Zimbabwe’s reach.

Defending a massive target of 344, the Pakistan bowling attack was ruthless. Zimbabwe struggled to counter the pressure from the onset, eventually being bowled out for a mere 137 in 39 overs.

Captain Fatima Sana led from the front, dismantling the opposition with a lethal spell of 3/15 in eight overs. She was impeccably supported by a disciplined collective effort; Syeda Aroob Shah, Rameen Shamim, and Momina Riasat each claimed two wickets, while Diana Baig provided the breakthrough support required to stifle any hope of a Zimbabwean resurgence.

For the visitors, Runyararo Pasipanodya offered some resistance, remaining unbeaten on 33, while opener Kelis Ndhlovu (32) and Beloved Biza (29) provided brief sparks. However, they were unable to navigate the accuracy and intensity of the Pakistani bowlers.

With the series secured, the focus now shifts to the final match of the assignment. The Pakistan camp will look to maintain their unbeaten momentum when the teams meet for the third and final ODI on Saturday. Given the clinical nature of their performance in Karachi, the home side will be eager to complete a clean sweep and further solidify their standing in the format.
