Aayan claims triple crown as SICAS Punjab Junior Tennis Championship concludes

LAHORE: The SICAS Punjab Junior Tennis Championship concluded on a high note, showcasing Pakistan’s emerging tennis talent, with promising young players delivering impressive performances across multiple age categories.

The championship celebrated the achievements of the winners while reaffirming the importance of grassroots development in strengthening the future of tennis in Pakistan.

Secretary Sports Punjab Fazal-ur-Rehman graced the occasion as the chief guest, lauded the championship winners for their outstanding performances and assured the participating players of the Punjab government’s and Sports Board Punjab’s all-out support for the promotion and development of tennis.

Congratulating the champions and runners-up, Fazal-ur-Rehman appreciated their dedication, hard work and commitment to the sport. He underscored the importance of providing young athletes with opportunities to compete, improve their skills and progress to higher levels of the game.

He also reaffirmed the provincial government’s commitment to supporting talented players and strengthening sports development initiatives to help them realise their potential.

Pakistan Lawn Tennis Association (PLTA) President Capt (R) Fazeel Asghar also congratulated the winners and appreciated the participants for their competitive spirit and determination. He encouraged the young players to continue working hard, maintain discipline and remain focused on their training to achieve greater success at national and international levels.

PLTA Senior Executive Vice President Rashid Malik, Sitara-e-Imtiaz, thanked SICAS for sponsoring the championship and supporting the promotion of tennis.

He reaffirmed the association’s commitment to serving the game and nurturing the next generation of players, emphasising the importance of strengthening the talent pipeline to produce promising youngsters and future tennis stars for Pakistan.

Distinguished guests attending the occasion included Omer Salamat of SICAS, PLTA Joint Secretary Musa Niaz, former Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) Secretary Col (R) Asif Dar, players, their families and a large number of tennis enthusiasts.

M. Aayan of Fatima Group emerged as one of the standout performers of the championship, securing three titles across the boys’ age categories.

In the boys’ U-12 final, M. Aayan defeated Mustafa Uzair Rana 4-0, 4-0 to clinch the title. He continued his impressive run by winning the boys’ U-14 title, defeating M. Muaz 6-3. He also captured the boys’ U-16 singles title, completing a remarkable triple-title achievement.

In the boys’ U-18 final, Amir Mazari overcame Abdur Rehman 6-3 to claim the championship. In the girls’ U-12 final, Eman Shahbaz defeated Shahnoor 6-3 to secure the title.

Khadija Khalil emerged victorious in the girls’ U-14 final, overcoming Eman 6-4. In the girls’ U-18 final, Bismel Zia of Ali Embroidery Mills defeated Khadija Khalil 6-2 to lift the title.

The girls’ doubles crown went to Bismel Zia and Khadija Khalil, who defeated the pairing of Eman Shahbaz and Zaina Abdullah to complete an impressive campaign. In the seniors’ 55+ doubles category, Rashid Malik and Arif Feroze combined effectively to defeat Ahsan and Waqar 8-3 and claim the title.
