Amir, Bismel, Ayan win titles at Millat Tractors Junior National Tennis Championship

LAHORE: Pakistan’s emerging tennis talent took centre stage as Amir Mazari, Bismel Zia and Muhammad Ayan clinched titles at the Millat Tractors Junior National Tennis Championship 2026, which concluded at the Punjab Tennis Academy, Bagh-e-Jinnah, on Friday.

In the boys’ U-18 singles final, Amir Mazari of Aitchison College, a student of renowned coach Rashid Malik, produced an impressive performance to defeat M Yahya 6-4, 6-2. However, Yahya made amends in the boys’ U-18 doubles final, pairing with Omer Jawad to overcome Amir Mazari and Ruhab Faisal 7-6, 6-2.

The girls’ U-18 title was claimed by Bismel Zia, also coached by Rashid Malik and sponsored by Ali Embroidery Mills, who defeated Esha Rabbi 6-2, 6-3 in a commanding display.

In the boys’ U-14 singles final, M Junaid Khan edged past M Muaz in a closely contested match, winning 1-4, 5-4, 5-3. Junaid later partnered Ohad-e-Mustafa to secure the U-14 doubles title against Muaz and Ibraheem Gill in a thrilling super tie-break. Khadija Khalil captured the girls’ U-14 crown by beating Eman Shahbaz 5-3, 4-1.

In the U-12 category, Muhammad Ayan, coached by Rashid Malik and sponsored by Fatima Group, dominated the boys’ singles final, defeating M Ibraheem Hussain Gill 4-1, 4-1. Eman Shahbaz claimed the girls’ U-12 title, while Ayan also lifted the boys’ U-12 doubles trophy alongside Daniyal Abdullah. The under-10 mixed final saw Mustafa Zia defeat Hadi Ali Rizwan 6-2.

The closing ceremony was attended by Lt Col (R) Mukhtar Ahmed Bhatti, Dy General Manager (Admin & Purchase) Millat Tractors, Mr Imran Ayub, Senior Manager Administration Millat Tractors, Mr Waqar Nisar, Finance Secretary PLTA, and Mr Sohail Malik, who distributed trophies and prizes.

Coach Rashid Malik expressed gratitude to Millat Tractors for their continued sponsorship and support for junior tennis, while also praising the Punjab Lawn Tennis Association for its efforts in promoting the sport across the province. Malik was unable to attend the finals due to national duty with Pakistan’s Davis Cup tie against Senegal, highlighting his commitment to country before personal engagements.
